This was a really fun tour. It was bitterly cold and windy (at least for us!), but Hrafn was cheerful and shared so many great stories! He kept the kids interested and it was a great way to learn the lay of the land right after arriving! We highly recommend!

Tasty way to enjoy the town!
What a tasty way to get to know the city. Frank was a great guide, easy to talk to and provided such depth of knowledge about Icelandic history and the food we were eating. It was just myself and one other person in the tour and, a rather typical rainy kind of day. All good spirits though. We made about 5 stops including a look at the local flea market (would have never known it was there otherwise), tried the famous Icelandic hot dog (was really good, had a nice snap to it), had smoked lamb tartare (wow), there was lobster bisque soup and salmon on rye bread. We also visited A Taste of Iceland - what a treat! The owner (absolutely wonderful) shared with us lots of interesting information about licorice and we got to try several candies and jams (spoiler alert, you won’t want to leave without the crowberry jam!) The tour finished up with a famous marriage cake. Was a great day, as I shared we were in really good hands with Frank and I would highly recommend this tour!

A short, fun, and quirky tour with a look into local legend!
Booked this tour somewhat last minute with a friend of mine as we had some extra time on one of our last days in Reykjavik. The tour guide was jovial and personable making the tour one to remember. On top of the interesting local stories he went above and beyond singing us a nursery rhyme and giving us a taste of the old Icelandic language. If you are hoping to learn historical fact and gain a deeper understanding of the legacy of the capital, this isn't the tour you are looking for, but if you like ghost stories, local culture and a quirky experience that will surely stand out from the rest, this is the tour for you!!! Also, it should be noted this may not be a good choice for young children. On our tour topics of death, bloody rituals and overall darker stories were prevalent which some may not want told in front of their kids. The name of the tour seems quite whimsical but like many traditional myths and legends, there is often a darker origin.

Amazing fun!
When my 17 year old kid said this was her choice of tour I was iffy about it, but this was one of the coolest tours I have ever been on. We learned history, drank hot chocolate and petted cats. Well worth it.

I did two tours with them and I love them both, the guides were very knowledgeble and friendly, it was great to explore the city in this different and relaxed way, I really feel I was able to truly get to know iceland and the people in a special meaningful way. I highly recommend both the Folklore and Cat tours!

Magical and Meaningful.

I highly recommend both the Folklore and Cat tours. The Floklore tour in particular was truly unique, with our guide being like an actor, telling us stories in a way that really immersed me in the culture and made me understand how icelandic people are as they are. It was both funny and scary :)

Paul the Fisherman was an excellent guide for the food tour. He gave historical references with each meal, explaining in detail how each menu item was prepared and with local ingredients. He also gave recommendations for other spots based on what sort of event we would be interested in. He also introduced me to the first hot dog I ever liked! I highly recommend Paul and the Reykjavík Food Lovers tour!

We had a walking tour with Ester E on Sunday 23rd February 2025 @ 1:00pm. We found the tour to be really informative and gave an excellent insight into Iceland and it's history. Ester E was fantastic throughout and delivered the tour with such passion and enthusiasm displaying a real pride in both her work and in her Country. Thank you Ester E.

We had a wonderful guide that was full of great information about the city and its history. All of the sweets and pastries we tried were great. I would have sworn before this tour I did not licorice- but it just needs to be covered in chocolate!!!!

Super way to get to learn about Icelandic culture and heritage
Excellent tour guide. Really knowledgeable and made the tour funny for the whole family. Not too face paced so even with mobility issues, I was able to catch up.

Wrong Tour, But Oh So Good!
First thing was our tour guide was fantastic. Second thing - we were not booked on this tour! Somehow we were booked onto a food tour but not this one as advertised with stop at Flea Market. Disappointed as I had selected the tour carefully based on food stops that this picky eater could manage and a visit to see what the flea market was like. That said, we lucked out as our guide was so warm and knowledgeable he made the tour come alive. Mid-tour when we discovered the error, he pivoted and took us to the flea market just to see what it was all about. With the exception of not getting to try the ryebread ice cream from the original tour, his version was interesting and delicious! The lamb hot dogs and lobster soup are highlights to be sure. Would definitely tour with him again!
