Excellent narrative of how Iceland was formed, populated & the weather survived. Background to culture, superstition and the importance of stones, elves etc.. Finding out where key places are in Reykjavik and going to see many of them. This is the way to start a holiday. This tour brings the place alive and greatly assists in planning the rest of your stay.

Not much folklore. Mostly just photo ops at landmarks. We did the Walk With a Viking tour the day before and got more and better stories from that guide. If you are choosing a tour, Walk With a Viking was the superior of the two.

My mother and I did two tours in one day! 14,000 steps later we were full of delicious treats and fascinating stories. Yes, we did the food tour and the folklore tour. First the food tour: Pàll was brilliant! He certainly fits everyone's idea of a Viking - tall with a big beard and long gray hair. He is not very fierce, however -- which was a good thing since we were trusting our stomachs to him. He has a vast store of knowledge about the food, how it is caught/found, the way it is prepared, its antecedents, everything. We had a marvelous time. We took a break and had a drink before our second tour with Esther. Esther charmed us with her tales of elves, scared us (just a little) with her ghost stories, and regaled us with the rich history of the city. We loved every moment. Your Friend in Reykjavik has unique wonderful tours with passionate, quirky tour guides. Recommend highly! Do not hesitate to book!

Fun tour
This tour was quirky and fun. Our group was friendly and enjoyable. Our guide, Stefan, was laid back, knowledgeable and friendly. The cat cafe is adorable too!

The food tour with Palli was the best!! Palli’s vast knowledge of Icelandic people, food, and culture kept us all entertained. We learned so much. And all the different food we had was DELICIOUS! Highly recommend this tour.
