Booking our tours with “Your Friend in Reykjavik” was very easy and very affordable. Our tour guide for the Cat Tour, Bardi, was very lively, knowledgeable, and a great person! Our Sweet Tooth Tour guide, Stefan, was as great as Bardi! He was very knowledgeable and funny. Both guides felt more like friends to us, not just guides. We felt like we met with friends to go for a fun and exciting walk. We strongly encourage everyone to go on as many tour with “Your Friend in Reykjavik” as you can! It is worth every dollar; you will not be disappointed.

This was a great tour, with lots of stories and legends told brilliantly by the guide. A most enjoyable 2 hours walking around Reykjavik, taking in the sights and hearing about its past.

Go off path and learn about local living!
Excellent tour to get around in the capital city! I recommend doing it on the first day of arrival. Our guide, Frank, was excellent! He kept adding little funny facts to keep the tour interesting! On my part I especially loved the stories about the elves and folkloric tales of Iceland! Great tour!

We were lucky to have Stefan as our guide. He's not only incredibly knowledgeable, but also a genuinely kind and sincere person. Throughout the tour, we learned so much about Icelandic history and culture, all while tasting some unforgettable food. The smoked salmon sandwich and the lamb tartar were absolute highlights amongst plenty of other dishes we tried. Thanks to Stefan’s tips, we even managed to survive Iceland’s famous fermented shark - just barely! :)) There were only five of us on the tour that day, so it felt like a semi-private experience. Stefan had plenty of time to share stories and answer all our questions. We even received recipes for some traditional Icelandic dishes from the tour company which I absolutely loved. This tour is a must-do experience in Iceland. Can't recommend enough!

This was a great tour and a wonderful introduction to Reykjavik, and Icelandic history in general. It also gave us a good way to get our bearings of the city on our first day in the city. Our guide, Einar, was very informative and personable and was able to answer all of our questions. He even gave us some recommendations for food and bars, which were a hit! We also loved that he took photos of/for us the entire time, for us to remember this wonderful experience for years to come.

Come hungry – and curious!
The Food Lovers Tour with Einar was a great way to explore Reykjavik through its food and stories. We tried many different dishes, and Einar’s relaxed, friendly style made it all the more enjoyable. I was great fun chatting about Iceland’s music culture and hearing fun local anecdotes along the way. It felt more like walking around with a local friend than a formal tour.

Five paws! 🐾 Highly recommended!
I joined the CatWalk with Barði on a sunny April morning and from the moment I met him, it was clear I was in for something special – he's not only a fountain of feline knowledge but also a charismatic storyteller with a deep love for Reykjavik and its whiskered residents. This wasn’t just about spotting the occasional street cat (though we did meet some charming locals!) – I learned how cats have shaped the spirit and stories of the city. Barði’s tales were a delightful mix of historical tidbits, Icelandic folklore, and heartwarming cat trivia that kept me grinning. The tour was informative without being too serious, quirky in all the right ways, and filled with surprises at every turn (cat-themed street art? Yes please!).

We walked with Einer who was personable and professional. He arranged stops indoors to allow a welcome break from the rain. He is very well versed in Icelandic culture and specifically, its literature. Enjoyable even in the rain.

Icelanders are awesome
We did the Folklore tour with Stefán and I have to say we were truly entertained. We did the tour on our first day arriving in Reykjavík so we also got a good sense of our surroundings as well. My Son was obsessed with some of the stories and for the rest of the trip was pointing out cats, rolling pins (it will make sense when you do the tour) elf rocks and rune markings. This was a perfect way to start our stay in Iceland.

My wife and I really enjoyed the Icelandic Storyteller experience!! An intimate experience on the second floor of a tavern at the port with a retired fisherman and his neighbor discussing the sagas, Icelandic names, etymology, and other topics. A truly one of a kind experience that was a highlight of my time in Reykjavik. This is the second time I’ve purchased a tour/experience from Your Friend in Reykjavik, and I can’t recommend this group enough, it really is like having a friend in Reykjavik for a couple of hours, just wonderful.
