Guide ruined our food tour.

We stopped for only 2 days in Reykjavik coming from Dublin and thought the food tour would be a great way to learn about Iceland and get to know the city. While we enjoyed the food and walking around the tour was ruined some by our guide. He got into religion (said he was an atheist) and politics (said he was as WOKE as “used the f word” and was proud of it.). We finally asked him to please stop talking about this repeatedly! It’s not really what we wanted to hear on a food tour. It was our anniversary that day too and he kept coming around to those topics so maybe should’ve just gone out for a nice dinner instead. I would not recommend this guide at all - he took the fun out of the experience which was not cheap either. I gave it 2 stars because the food was good.

Easy and fun tour

Magnus was such a good guide. He walked at a comfortable pace, there was no rushing, and he was very knowledgeable. This was a perfect day 1 activity, especially if you fly in early and need something to fill the day before checking into a hotel.

Deep inside of the history and places of downtown Reykjavik

This was a great tour through Reykjavik. Within two hours we have had a deep inside of the history and places of downtown Reykjavik. The tour guide was very informative and kind. We highly recomment this tour.

We had an amazing experience with Your Friend in Reykjavik, thanks in large part to our fantastic guide, Magnus. From the moment our walking tour began, Magnus brought such a fun and energetic vibe—it felt like we were exploring the city with an old friend who just happened to know everything about Reykjavik! He was incredibly knowledgeable, sharing fascinating facts, history, and stories that brought the city to life. His enthusiasm was contagious, and he made sure everyone felt included and engaged throughout the tour. The food tour was equally wonderful—delicious bites and hidden gems we never would have found on our own, all enhanced by Magnus's great humor and insight. This was our first day in Iceland, and Magnus set the tone for an unforgettable trip. We truly couldn’t have asked for a better introduction to Reykjavik. Highly recommend this company—and if you’re lucky enough to get Magnus as your guide, you’re in for a great time!

Oli was the Best!!

I booked this tour on my first day in Reykjavik, which helped me to navigate the town center for the rest of my trip. We visited major areas, as well as minor areas, as a small group. Oli was very knowledgeable and gave us a good laugh. Recommend!!!

Loved learning more about Iceland!!!

Our guide was very knowledgeable and it is clear he loves his Icelandic heritage! The fact he is the 26th generation is amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and learning about Iceland, Reykjavik, and the volcanoes. Recommendation: go with questions to make your experience even more fun! Oh… and the food was great too - be adventurous and try the fermented shark!

This is a worthwhile tour and you see a lot of the city

This was a well worthwhile tour in the city. Einar was a good guide who knew his folklore. Iceland has some "out there" tales for their children. I thought he was making some of it up, but I looked and he wasn't. Einar relished in using creepy voices to make the tales come alive. He also has a lovely voice and sang a few verses of an Icelandic hymn for us when we visited the Lutheran Church. The stories are not for children. Think the "real Grimm Fairytales." So if you want to geek out a little on Icelandic folklore go for this. You still see a lot of the city including a beautiful cemetery.

3 1/2 stars. Tour was pretty good, although the guide remarked midway through that he didn’t like when he was assigned to this particular tour, lessening my enjoyment. Also this tour was really overpriced.

Einar Steinn Valgarðsson was a great tour guide… Very informative and friendly… Very enjoyable tour.! we had great weather and even enjoyed the Greenland shark tasting!

Amazing food, interactive and knowledgeable guide, learned so much about the history, culture, food and language of Iceland. I would give this tour and Stefan 6 stars if I could!!
