I wish I had done the tour at the beginning of my trip instead of the end - it would have been wonderful to have had this background as I explored the country. An entertaining presentation of Icelandic lore and culture.

My husband I had such an amazing time on our Food Tour and it’s largely due to our guide, Ester E. The food was unique and tasty; but learning about the history and culture of this city and country, as well as our Guide’s obvious passion for people and her work, are what made this experience 5 stars.

The beer was great as was the chat from the tour guide. The only thing is that I wish I learned about beer in Iceland. We didn’t really discuss or learn anything about beer or the history of it.

Our Friend in Reykjavík, Indeed!

Our tour guide was "Paulie" and he provided an experience well beyond food! While we were waiting for the tour to get started he was already telling us about the local customs and behavior around the meeting spot. After some other people didn't show, we began our tour with just my wife and I, it became a "private" tour and was incredible. The walks between locations were filled with information and fun historical facts about Reykjavík. The conversation continued as we ate local food and traditional dishes, it really felt like we were just out with an old friend of ours catching up. Because it was just the two of us with Paulie, we were able to move from place to place rather quickly, giving us a lot of extra time to make stops along the way to learn about some Icelandic Traditions, local secret spots, and even learning about "Renting Paintings" from the library, and getting to browse a few of them. Aside from the fun conversation and learning along the way, the food was absolutely excellent and really gave us a taste of some places that had flown under our radar. We can happily say that this retired deep Sea fisherman - turned tour guide completely embodied the phrase on the back of his jacket, "Your Friend in Reykjavík". We will never forget Paulie after our trip here ends, and we hope to see him again when we return in the future!

Even if the guide is good and we pass a good time, the food was not very good. If you like to eat something islandic , you will find some very good restaurant and the price will be surely less.
