The visit to the Houston Zoo was a disappointment. Tickets are only available online which can be complicated for overseas visitors when you are in front of the booth. Then there were no points open to buy refreshments, only at the entrance was something open. A lot of construction work was ongoing and venues closed. Also, there seems to be no overall concept and the keeping of the animals seems outdated. Information on animals should be more detailed.

I had not been to the Houston Zoo in many, many years. It was pricey, but we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We went late morning, early afternoon and some animals were napping, but we did see the elephants, giraffes, primates, cheetah, and many more. It was pleasant out with plenty of shaded paths and walkways which made the stroll through the zoo very nice. I highly recommend a visit, it's probably not as you remember if it's been a while since you've gone.
