I visited the Houston Zoo October of last year and had an amazing experience. The zoo is beautifully maintained, with a wide variety of animals and thoughtfully designed habitats that make it enjoyable for both kids and adults. I also found the animap especially helpful for navigating the zoo and locating different exhibits easily. It’s a great place to spend a day exploring and learning, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Houston but do plan ahead for parking.

We really loved this zoo. We have trees all over the place to rest. We highly recommend it. Arrive early if you want to use parking near the entrance.

I have been a zoo member since 2004. I let my membership lapse for a few years. During a recent company event, I renewed and now regret the renewal. Open the zoo earlier. This is Houston (center of H👹ll), Texas. The reason folks line up outside an hour or more before the zoo opens isn't because it is amazing. It is because little kids and grown adults get heatstroke between the hours of of 12pm and 3pm. You hold folks like cattle. Your employee taunts them preparing to open the gates. She waits until it is exactly 9am. Then you have to have all these additional employees to hurd and keep peaceful the rush to enter all at once. You are unnecessarily trying to create a rockstar fanfest moment. It just increases the drop angle for the letdown. Increasing the hours would allow folks who are obligated to keep their children alive to get in and then out of the zoo by 12pm. This would then, in turn, allow parking for folks with no such burdens of being sun-cooked. They can come in to a zoo that is not so overrun with crumbsnatchers who are mently down due to the sun stroke melting their brains. PARKING. You know it is miserable. You could easily put employee parking at the furthest lot. Then you could have two shuttle carts to get employees back and forth. The employees take nearly the entire main lot. See how I said "nearly"? That is because you apparently do not have a large number of handicapped employees to finish the lot 100%. FOOD. My company had and event. The food chosen was to be able to accommodate kids and adults. The food was mediocre at best. If I was to imagine being a prisoner, this is the food I would picture on my tray. We also had the same zoo event in Dallas. Houston Zoo needs to send the kitchen team up to Dallas and see how the Dallas team made the nearly exact same menu actually taste good. The employees took "to go" plates in Dallas. In Houston, we were glad to see it go. Houston Zoo, you have successfully made parking, operating hours and food preparation convenient for your staff at the expense of enjoyment by your customers. Rather than the constant pricing increases - you could make folks want to go to the zoo every weekend. We did just that, in the past, every Saturday and Sunday. From us you got snack profits, zoo extra event fees, zoo gift shop income (at least $50 per visit), and a commemorative cup that stayed full with each refill. I own every commemorative Houston Zoo cup. Small changes make the greatest difference for both the customers and your profit margin.

It's a very big zoo. It has a lot shade, lots of different animals to see. Plenty of restrooms and water fountains with the bottle refill attached.

Diamond Hunter was shot twice once in the back of the head, another to the side of the neck or face in response to miscommunication after she was nearly attacked over a parking spot and the fact that the zoo is still open is ridiculous

Always a great experience! We love walking around looking at all the animals! The zoo is one of our favorite places to go! So glad they have the cooling off zones to cool off during this hot Texas summer!

Loved this zoo. We have memberships in Dallas and this zoo WOWd us. Lots of walking but that's expected. Loved that the enclosures are huge for the animals
