I had a fantastic experience at the Houston Zoo! The zoo is clean, well-organized, and clearly designed with both visitors and animal welfare in mind. The exhibits are spacious and thoughtfully created, making it easy to see the animals while also allowing them to feel comfortable in their habitats. There’s a great variety of animals from all over the world, and the educational signs throughout the park are informative and engaging. I especially enjoyed how interactive the zoo felt, with opportunities to get closer to certain animals and learn more about conservation efforts. The staff were friendly and helpful, and you can tell they really care about the animals and guests. There are also plenty of shaded areas, food options, and rest spots, which made the visit comfortable even on a warm day. Overall, it’s a wonderful place for families, couples, or anyone who loves animals. I would definitely recommend visiting if you’re in Houston!

Weekends can be crazy hard to find parking; come early. Weekdays for parking isn't to bad... The zoo itself is wonderful. Plenty to see and keep you busy for hours.

I’d give Houston Zoo a solid 4 stars overall. You can comfortably see most of it in about 3 hours—and the kids had a great time, which is what matters most. That said, some areas felt extremely crowded. The Galapagos exhibit in particular was packed, making it difficult to fully enjoy or even see everything. Several pathways and popular exhibits were congested, which took away from the experience a bit. It also seemed like there may be a high number of animals in certain enclosures; for example, we couldn’t even get a clear count on the elephants, and it felt a bit excessive. There was also a ton of construction going on so lots of detours and animals you could not see. On the positive side, it’s great that you’re allowed to bring your own food and drinks, which makes a big difference for families. Gift shops and restrooms are easy to find and well-distributed throughout the park. Parking can be a challenge—arrive right when it opens or about 20 minutes before if possible. Otherwise, you may spend quite a while circling for a spot. Helpful suggestion for the zoo: It may be worth exploring crowd management strategies, especially around high-traffic exhibits to improve both guest experience and animal comfort.

Avoid school fielder tríps on rainy days. There are no accommodations and typical Houston no paved sidewalk.

Not fun at all. The lions were asleep . There was no monkeys we could see. Most animals were not there no where to be seen. Idk if they even had elephants because I didn't see them. And just the map layout is ridiculous. 🙄 It was confusing and not fun.

Had my youngest granddaughters 2nd birthday there... Our wild child❣️ It rained and poured but we had fun. We were in the re pavilion so it wasn't a complete wash out. Everyone had fun❣️
