We utilized the gorilla conference room which overlooked the gorilla sanctuary for a workshop and team building for a company. There were four TVs to project our PowerPoint presentation to. The zoo also provided breakfast and lunch. During our break we had the animal experience were the zoo brought in two different animals a chinchilla and a tortoise to educate us on them. Everything was set up perfectly. The food and the animal experience ambassadors arrived on time. We were able to set up at 7:00 a.m. although the zoo does not open until 9:00 a.m.. Alex our events coordinator actually drove one of our participants from the front of the park to the gorilla conference room (to the back of the park) because he had bad knees. All in all the staff was very knowledgeable, helpful & timely with all of our requests.

Me and my family go there every year and it’s always been very fun, but last year when we went some of the animals looked depressed, the tiger was just walking around in a figure eight the whole time.

We went to see the holiday light show. SPECTACULAR! There were synchronized lighting displays, animated displays, light imitating motion displays, and too many colors to describe. The path through was well marked with plenty of room to stop and stare. The animals were mostly asleep (as expected) but a few large animals like giraffes were visible. Refreshments were available. We (4 adults) spent about 2 hours walking through this very tastefully done holiday show. Now we need to return to see the animals!

The Houston Zoo is a great place to walk around. It’s really nice, well kept, and easy to get through. Perfect for a chill afternoon.

So disappointed in this zoo. First, the pricing is extremely misleading. The posted adult admission says $19.95, but in reality, they use “dynamic pricing” based on availability and busy times—meaning there is essentially no way to actually get that price. We ended up paying $40 per person, which is absolutely ridiculous for a zoo. There’s nothing you can do about it because they control the pricing, but it feels like a bait-and-switch. They advertise discounted pricing for people on food stamps in Texas, which is great—but what about visitors from other states? What about law enforcement, military, educators, or other groups? If the goal is to make this a place people can visit to enjoy and support the animals, the pricing structure completely misses the mark. Parking was another nightmare. We spent 55 minutes driving around trying to find a parking spot at 10:00 in the morning—not at opening, not in the afternoon, but right when families are typically arriving. There was absolutely no available parking, which added a huge amount of frustration before we even got inside. Overall, this experience felt like a money grab rather than a family-friendly or animal-focused attraction. Between the inflated ticket prices and the parking disaster, I do not recommend this zoo.

I’ve been attending this zoo for many years and I do enjoy it. Though the price has gotten really high. I feel like it’s more of an amusement park than a zoo and some of the animals look a little sad.

we love coming to the Houston zoo especially when it's during fall or winter season and the Zoo lights are available to see. Its so beautiful!

Love the Houston zoo. I’ve been to so many different zoos and this zoo just is so intimate. Animals are so beautiful and well taken care of. I love that it has a park and a petting area.
