Great zoo, friendly staff and cool demonstrations/talks. Good mix of exhibits, easy to navigate. Recommend you use CityPass to get a discount on Zoo and a bunch of other attractions in the area.

While I did enjoy the zoo, I do think that on the particular day I visited, the prices of tickets could have reflected the fact that a majority of animals were not on display due to the cold weather. Paying $40 per ticket for a family of 5 only to not see a majority of the monkeys, apes, and a large amount of other animals is a bit unjustified. But the family wanted to visit the zoo, and I knew the situation with the animals would likely be the case because of how cold it was, I just think that charging full price without giving customers the “full experience” was not right. I’m glad the animals were kept safe indoor and away from the cold though.

It was cold so many of the animals were indoors, which is understandable. But then there should either be indoor viewing of them, or a reduced admission price.

Nice zoo to visit but make sure to arrive early for finding parking close to entrance

Disregarding that I hate zoos and I was dragged here by family, this place offers zero aid to disabled people coming to the park. The parking lot is WAY too small for the amount of people this zoo sees, so people must park around a mile away from the zoo itself. My brother has a toe walking disability and had extreme troubles making the lengthy trip to the zoo, and then around the park much less. Extremely crowded, no parking, not disability friendly.

You have to buy your tickets online. Small zoo. A lot of the animals were off exhibit. The ones that were out looked to be in good health.

The Houston Zoo is a fantastic spot for a fun and educational day out! The variety of animals is impressive, and the exhibits are well-maintained and engaging. I especially loved the giraffe feeding and the tropical bird aviary. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the grounds are clean and beautifully landscaped. It’s a great place for families, but it can get quite crowded on weekends. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes as there’s a lot of walking. Overall, a wonderful experience – highly recommend visiting!"
