They don’t do it for the customer, they do it for themselves

We booked the whalewatching trip in the morning, headed out at 9am to go find some whales. They drove up north just past Everett WA, where they showed us a group of three grey whales. They told us some stuff about the grey whales and also added that those whales mainly stay around the area where they found them. They stayed with those whales for about 20 minutes. After that we did not go for more whales, they started searching sealions, seals and birds, of which there are hundreds flying around the whole time. It definitely feels like the FRS Clipper is not doing these Whale watching trips to actually search whales with the people on board, it feels a lot more like they know approximately where their grey whales are and in case they don’t get other sightings in they just go there to tell you they fulfilled their whale sights. We all know that marine mammals are unpredictable, but for the amount of money they take from you it is a real disgrace of how they handle the tour. Instead of going for a real search for whales first and having those grey whales in as their ace in case of no other sightings, they sell them to you as a real random spotting. My recommendation is to not go with this company because it really feels like some kind of betrayal and that they care more about the money than to actually go out there and search for the things they promise you. Really devastating company and trip. Won’t recommend it to future visitors of Seattle.

Only Whale Watching Tour Departing from Seattle Waterfront

Our guide went above and beyond to ensure we saw some whales. Saw five humpbacks! I would definitely do this again!

The trip was well organised from start to finish. The crew were supportive & professional without being intrusive. We saw a gambit of whales, porpoises, different types of seals & birds. Xack was informative & helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed the trip

Highly recommend the FRS Clipper Ferry!!!

We had a wonderful experience taking the FRS Clipper between Seattle and Victoria! The ferry was extremely comfortable, the ride was smooth, and it was such a relaxing way to travel between the two cities. We also splurged on the Vista Panoramic seating, and it was worth every penny! Having reserved window seats gave us incredible views throughout the journey and made the trip feel extra special. It was so nice to sit back, relax, and enjoy the scenery without having to worry about finding a seat or missing the views. The FRS Clipper made getting to and from Victoria easy, comfortable, and enjoyable. We would definitely take it again!

Their partner garage, Bell Street Garage, did not fully honor Clipper’s parking coupon. The coupon only deducted $6 instead of $10. They might be in cahoots to scam customers!

Good experience

Great experience. The boat ride was so smooth. I usually get seasick, but this was not an issue. Drinks and salad I bought on board were good. They send you a link with photos of the wildlife so you can focus on viewing instead of trying to get a good shot.

What we saw was good.

The crew was very knowledgeable. The boat was comfortable and kept us informed. We saw (2) grey whales, several sea lions, and a few harbor seals. We would like to see more whales or orca’s, but that’s nature. The crew took VERY good photo’s and the emailed them to us.

Trip staff terrific but...

Trip staff terrific but saw only glimpses of one gray whale which was quite disappointing considering the cost. We saw more seals on the piers of SanFrancisco. But, nature is not predictable. The complimentary photos of the rare views was appreciated.

Amazing! Our guide was...

Amazing! Our guide was great and I was so happy to receive professional photos afterwards since I was too busy watching the whales to take my own. She also knew the names of the orcas we saw and taught us how to identify them. I'm so glad I was able to take this trip! My only issue was parking. We parked in a garage nearby and it closed before we got back and none of the numbers to get the car out work. I'm not from here and didn't know this would be an issue. Otherwise, this is 100% worth it! Just make sure to not use Elliot parking garage.

Absolutely incredible. We got to see two gray whales! I could spend all day watching them. Naturalist Xach was so kind, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Everyone from the bartender to the person who checked us in was friendly and welcoming!

Pretty bad experience. Paid $500 for 3 ppl and spent 4 hours, only saw one single whale, and it was a grey whale so you can’t really see anything. Half of the tour (~2 hrs) was on the way to the ocean so it’s not worth it to do a whale tour here at all. Would not recommend. Try San Juan island or Victoria for whale watching tours.

Awesome whale watching tour!

Awesome day whale watching! The naturalist on board was informative and we got to see two pods of southern resident orcas which are highly endangered and two grey whales. Great day!

ABSOLUTE ACES! My wife & I came to Seattle for two reasons; to celebrate our 10 year anniversary and to see Orcas. We had visited Vancouver a few years ago and took a six hour boat ride that guaranteed Orcas and saw NONE, and when I booked our hotel I had NO IDEA the FRS Clipper was the ONLY boat that left from downtown Seattle, that the best way to see Orcas was essentially to leave Seattle and head an hour away. I was nervous, she was nervous. But man oh man, these guys more than delivered! We saw at least SIX of the Biggs Orcas and followed them through the water for a solid 2 hours. It was incredible and absolutely made our trip. We went in late August and they knew exactly where to go. The even took and shared their pictures! SO amazing. Keep up the great work!
