Don't make the same mistake I did
The only reason I did not have a good experience on this tour was because of the timeframe booked. My particular tour was set for noon from Seattle, and I had the expectation of returning on the last boat back to Seattle, which was at 5:30pm. Be aware that the boats take about 3 hours EACH WAY, so given this, I only had ONE HOUR to spend in Victoria, which was ridiculous. Also be aware you have to go through customs three times: once in Victoria, once when returning on the boat, and then when you return to Seattle, so be aware that will take up a good chunk of time. Otherwise, the actual boat rides were nice; we had the option of buying food and drink (alcoholic or non), although on the return trip they only had breakfast sandwiches to serve for food (which wasn't that big of a deal). Personally I don't think a noon round trip to/from Seattle to Victoria should be an option, because there are people who take the ferry strictly one-way to Victoria. Of course, I should have paid attention when I booked 3 months ago, but yeah, don't make the same mistake I did. There are tours that go early in the morning so book those instead.

Not much to do on Victoria Island
I found Victoria Island did not have any note note worthy thing to do. I am a big gardener in Wisconsin, so going to see another garden did not impress me. Lots of shopping which was a bit boring, since many of gift shops offered the same items. It is my opinion, Victoria needs to provide more to do for tourist. We went to the Military Museums which had some interesting videos and artifacts.

Splurge!
VIP Comfort - definitely a pricey splurge! Yet, oh, so fun. Clear skies with views of Mt Baker & Rainier. Snacks and drinks for teens, attentive staff, verbal customs clearance, just under 3 hours as promised. Ferry had very few passengers in VIP section (last weekend of March). Walked to ferry. Walked to Seattle hotel.

Save the money unless you need an easy way to Victoria.
The advertisement says it is 3 hours each way, but for us it was 4 hours each way. The captain said we were making great time each way, so that sounded normal. We did this as a day trip to Victoria, and I’m not sure we would have if we would have known it was 8 hours round trip for a ~4 hour excursion. There were quite a few children screaming and running around- bumping into other passengers/causing chaos- and many parents on their phones. While I understand kids are kids, this felt more like day care running around since they couldn’t get lost on the boat. A kids deck or a place to take screaming children would be valuable so all passengers don’t have to pay the price of absentee parenting. We also had to wait each disembarkation for passengers who need extra time to get off the boat first. I’m not sure what sense that makes to make everyone wait for the people who need extra time. Wouldn’t it be better for everyone involved to have the people who need extra time to disembark last? Just detracted from the overall experience. As soon as we got aboard we went to the galley for some breakfast and 1/2 the menu was already sold out, along with many of the drink choices. It felt like an unprepared staff day. Just a bummer. The staff was friendly though.

BC Ferries from Horshoe Bay Vancouver to Departure Bay Nanaimo gets a zero stars
I was shocked when my husband who was working in Vancouver the last day and half called to say that his reservation he had for the Horseshoe Bay to Nanaimo Departure Bay BC ferry this afternoon about 3pm, was cancelled after he waited for over two hours at the abundantly full parking lot of Horshoe Bay, BC. I was even more shocked to find that they let all the following reservations on the boat this evening. My husband had to fly across Vancouver with the rest of the cancelations and others who simply wanted to get to Nanaimo to get to Twassen for the Duke Point ferry which was fast filling up for reservations. I am appalled at the lact of orgnanization they have for a mechanical break down, and how they can't simply say to the last reservations of the night they need to get a hotel at the ferry's cost. If we had some other options for car loading ferries I have to wonder if they would care so little for their patrons.

Great experience at an affordable price
We had a wonderful relaxing couples get-away. The staff were friendly, helpful, and you could tell they enjoyed their jobs. We got to see three groups of whales in the 5 hours we were on the water. It was so beautiful and peaceful.

Whale Watching in Seattle
Very nice boat. We saw a pod of 9-10 Orcas (2 families). Naturalist knew all about each whale and provided detailed info about all of the adults. Downside was about 90 minutes each way to see the whales. Very little narrative about the communities we passed by, history of the area, etc. which we would have appreciated because it was our first visit to the Northwest. The narrative would made this a 5-star trip.

Very disappointed
After booking through a 3rd party, we were told my husband would be seated not anywhere near us, due to mobility issues this was a problem! We also were expecting to see orcas but we didnt see any, and we only saw humpback whales/ seals and sea lions (there site only states to see whales) i also asked the guide when we left the boat who stated that the orcas were so limited that no one goes near them!!

I’d do this once a year if I didn’t live on the East coast
I loved this ship to Victoria and I’d totally do it again in the future when I’m back to visiting Seattle. 5-6 hours isn’t enough time to see everything there in a day, so if time allows, stay overnight! I’d take this ride even if I couldn’t get off the ship just to see the beauty of the PNW.

A bit underwhelming since...
A bit underwhelming since we didn’t see many whales. There was just one whale roaming and not enough time.

Great whale watching experience
The trip was wonderful. We saw a humpback whale for about 30 minutes. The weather was iffy so we headed back in after that, but we left satified.
