The splurge was absolutely worth it.

What a great experience! The boat is very comfortable, staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and yes, we saw whales! My family was anxious about getting the “best seats,” and we needn’t have worried. The interior cabin has ample seating and is built for offering views through giant, clean windows. I was glad to have arrived early, though, to get seats right by the windows and all together for our large group. When we stopped to watch the whales, there’s plenty of room for everyone on deck and the captain maneuvered the boat to give everyone a chance at a great view. Also, everyone was gracious about making space and taking turns. The naturalist Alli was engaging and informative. Also a good supply of snacks and drinks at the cafe to keep our energy up. An added bonus is the shared photos from the crew, which allowed us to enjoy what we were seeing without also trying to get pictures.

We travelled for about...

We travelled for about 150 miles. They didn't give up and went the extra mile to bring us to the orcas. The naturalist on board was extremely knowledgeable. Overall a great experience, the boat was also very clean and large.

Super fun! Saw Orcas and they were awesome. Great tour of the sound as well. Would definitely do it again!

Chances of seeing whales not very likely:( no one’s fault. clean nice boat, great crew!!!! Beautiful scenery.

A good sight seeing tour

A very nice trip. We were able to see 3 whales and a group of sea lions on a buoy. Plus a great view of the area. Highly recommended!

Looking for whales?

It’s very relaxing and exciting all in one. The experts are very knowledgeable and love sharing information about the area and the type of whales and other sea mammals being viewed. Be mindful that you may not get to see the whales as expected due to season, time, or range but its worth every second.

I have now done two FRS Clipper trips (one whale watching, and one to Victoria BC) and I cannot say enough positive things about both. The staff is incredibly friendly and keeps things organized and moving. The drinks on both boats were very good, and we had a wonderful and relaxing time. While Whale Watching we saw a pod of orca, humpbacks, and seals, and they share a lot of great information about each species and also the Salish Seas in general. On the Clipper to Victoria we sat on both the bottom floor and also up top. The upper floor was more comfortable and it was nice that it had a table, but would do either again. I will definitely return again!

Very disappointed I’ve been now twice this year! Staff has been utterly disrespectful with me both times spite they know I’m legally disabled! Being shoved & told to move spite I was waiting for my food & drink yesterday evening, is absolutely absurd behavior by the gift shop area where you buy very expensive food! Both trips I didn’t see one whale whatsoever even though they swore they were there! I did see the sea Lions & a few cute birds! I was given a voucher for another day yet told you can’t guarantee my safety & well being let alone folks seeing whales then it’s not okay! Before I decide to ever go again I best have a better all together experience with your company! I was left with bruises on my arms! I will be reporting to Valley Medical on Monday as you also messed my left shoulder & arm ! No photos as you keep scrambling my phone too

The boat and amenities were ok but a wildlife tour should be more wildlife friendly. Yes we did see the only known grey whales in the area but other than that it was a bunch of seals on a rock. No eagles, no killer whales. Go to the aquarium instead

The boat ride and scenery...

The boat ride and scenery alone are wonderful. We were able to see sea lions, seals and all 3 gray whales that migrate to the area! Ali the guide was very informative and I learned so many interesting facts about the local wildlife. I would absolutely recommend this trip for a quick half day activity. I’m sure there are others that go out further and are full day but this excursion was a lot of fun!
