(Translated by Google) Perhaps because the concept is to release animals into the wild, it was difficult to find any animals other than those in our enclosure. They must have been hiding in the shade because it was so hot. I really wanted to see a tree kangaroo, but I didn't. Tasmanian devils, wombats, etc... I missed them all.

Shameful do not go there!
I was genuinely shocked by my visit to Lone Pine Koala “Sanctuary”. Calling this place a sanctuary is extremely misleading — this is clearly a zoo, and a very questionable one. Many of the enclosures are extremely small, especially for birds and reptiles. The birds cannot even fly properly, which is heartbreaking to watch. This is not conservation, it is confinement. The koala enclosures are particularly disturbing: they are tiny, with fake trees, concrete floors, and the animals are kept very close to humans. In the wild, koalas live high up in real trees, far from constant human presence — not at ground level surrounded by noise and people. What shocked me the most is that there is still the possibility to touch, pet and take photos with koalas. Koalas are known to be highly sensitive and easily stressed animals. Allowing physical contact for tourism and profit is unacceptable and unethical. Even worse, the so-called “koala forest” is located right next to the restaurant, in the middle of where people are eating, talking and moving around constantly. Calling this a forest is frankly shameful. This place relies heavily on greenwashing and marketing, using the word “sanctuary” to make visitors believe they are supporting animal welfare, when in reality they are visiting a commercial zoo. The animals may be legally “well cared for”, but this is far from a natural or respectful environment. If you truly care about animal welfare, this place will leave you uncomfortable and disappointed.

Really enjoyable day out! Great place to see a wide range of Australian animals. You can even feed kangaroos in one section of the park. There are loads of koalas to see as well which was really cool. One of my highlights was the many talks that the rangers put on throughout the day. The flying predator and the sheepdog show were both great!

I loved being able to touch the koala. $32 and a bit of a line up was worth it. $2 for a bit of kibble to feed the kangaroos. Watched the free sheep dog show. Was an easy bus ride from the cruise ship shuttle drop off. Bus 445 or bus 430 takes you right there. Tap on and off the bus with your charge card.

We visited today (a Thursday during school holidays). There were ample street signage and parking. It was a short walk from the carpark to the entrance. There is an option to scan a code near the entry and pre-pay. There are deals for family passes. We pre-paid and a receipt printed out. A staff member scanned the barcode and let us through. You then have to scan a barcode on your phone to view the map & program. There are free shows included in admission but there's also optional experiences you can pay extra for. There are lots of lizards 🦎 roaming around the sanctuary but they weren't an issue and get out of your way. The kids enjoyed seeing a range of animals in their enclosures. We didn't get around to all the exhibits. The highlights were the koalas and kangaroos. If you want to feed the kangaroos you need to buy feed located throughout the sanctuary. We only saw some of the sheepdog show and the kids weren't interested in the other offerings. We spent a few hours here. It was a really hot day. I recommend bringing a hat and keeping hydrated.

Koala Sanctuary
Amazing place! Just a short transfer from the City. We got an Uber but River Cruise options are available. Personally I think you need longer than the River Cruise timings allow. Lots of Koalas, Kangaroos, Dingos, Tasmanian Devils, Birds, Wombats (not that we saw one), Sheep and Sheep Dogs, Falconry, Platypus, Reptiles and a Crocodile. Small cafe on site with drinks and snacks. Plenty of seating. Can be hilly but good accessible friendly paths.

(Translated by Google) A really great place with tons of animals, all the typical Australian ones. The downside is that I think it closes early; they kicked us out at 4 pm. The best part was that it was like a huge open park where kangaroos and wallabies roamed freely and you could get close to them. I even took a selfie with a kangaroo as proof.

We got an annual family pass & have been 3 times already with the kids. The place has lots more than just koalas to see & the kids love it. Definitely recommend.
