Zoo is great but parking took 45-50 minutes. I was told that's not normal. Still had a great experience.

The Houston Zoo itself is fantastic. The exhibits are well-designed, the animal habitats look thoughtfully maintained, and there’s a great variety to keep both kids and adults engaged for several hours. Staff inside the zoo were friendly and helpful, and the overall experience once you’re in is absolutely worth it. It’s clean, organized, and clearly well-run. That said, the parking situation significantly detracts from the experience. On weekends especially, parking feels chaotic and poorly managed. Expect long wait times (we waited 30–60 minutes), limited clear direction, and very few convenient options nearby. For a venue of this size and popularity, the infrastructure around parking does not match the quality of the zoo itself. I highly recommend buying tickets in advance, arriving early, or strongly considering rideshare to avoid the headache. Once you’re inside, it’s a great outing — but getting there shouldn’t be the most stressful part of the day. If parking were improved, this would easily be a 5-star experience.

Nice place for a family outing. Appreciative to see animals that are otherwise only seen in their natural habitat. Unfortunately, it is also sad to see them out of their natural habitat. The saving grace is their conservancy through funding of the zoo and educating the public t their plight in the wild.

Since most of the zoo construction has finally finished (at least in the entrance area and most other exhibits), the Houston Zoo experience and atmosphere has been delightful. Plenty of well-maintained exhibits with many Zoo Keepers nearby to provide interesting insights into the specific animals we’re seeing to those interested. Kept very clean, including restrooms, and plenty of space for visitors to roam without feeling crowded. We try to stick to visiting during the “cooler” months since Houston’s heat is no joke and a summer visit would be miserable.

there were some animals that wasn’t in the cage at the moment when i went but there was also so many animals. The animals had big land/space, showing absolutely no neglect or abuse in these exotic animals. There was also a small aquarium. They were tired the time i went and most was sleeping but it was still adorable and cute to look at. Fair price too! Good trip with family.

This zoo, nestled in Houston's Hermann Park, is fantastic. So many animals (over 6,000 according to their website) on 55 acres. Many of the enclosures were nicely done. The walk from one animal enclosure to another was pleasant. Plan to spend a few hours looking around and enjoy viewing the animals.

The zoo met expectations, theres currently some construction so we where unable to see the rinos witch is not a problem, parking was fine we arrived at 830 before they opened anticipating some troubles parking. It took us about 5 hours to walk the whole zoo and could have taken longer if we took more breaks. The zoo has water fountains so we where able to fill up our water bottles a few times no problem. We also brought in our own snacks witch made the trip easier. As the day whent on the zoo did get busier as expected.geting out of the parking lot was tricky but not impossible lots of people trying to get in and out and being impatient about it. Its a nice zoo will most likely be back :)
