We chose Houston Zoo to celebrate my youngest child’s 5th birthday, and it couldn’t have turned out better. He had one simple wish—to visit the zoo on his special day—and it was absolutely the right choice. A quick tip: reservations are highly recommended, and arriving early makes a huge difference. We got there right at 8 AM and had no issues with parking at all. Entry was fast and smooth, and the early arrival meant we could enjoy the zoo before the crowds rolled in. From our experience, it’s best to visit the big animals first while your energy is high and the zoo is quieter, then explore the smaller exhibits on your way out. The layout makes this strategy work really well. The zoo itself is clean, well-maintained, and very family-friendly. Restrooms were spotless, and there’s plenty of shaded areas—which is a big plus in Houston weather. We also stopped by Cypress Circle Café, which was spacious with both indoor and outdoor seating—perfect for a relaxed break. Overall, an excellent experience from start to finish. One small tip for first-time visitors: consider becoming a member. The added perks for your family are worth it, and the price difference is minimal—honestly, it feels more like making a meaningful donation while getting great value in return. Highly recommend for families looking to create special memories! 🎉

Houston Zoo has a good variety of animals and the place is well-maintained overall. It’s a nice spot for families and kids, and there are some areas that are really enjoyable and engaging. However, it can get quite crowded, and the wait times for certain exhibits can be long. Some sections felt a bit underwhelming or not as interactive as expected. Food and other amenities are available but could be better in terms of variety and pricing. Overall, it’s a decent experience if you plan your visit well, but there’s definitely room for

The zoo itself was great. The parking however was a nightmare. I drove around the lot for over an hour trying to get a spot. I suggest getting there early.

(Translated by Google) It was good, there just weren't many people explaining, and many animals weren't there, but overall it was fine. They should clean the glass where you can see the animals through those windows. (Original) Estubo bien, solo no hay muchas personas explicando, muchos animales no estaban, pero en si está bien, deberían hacer limpieza a los vidrios donde se ven los animales a través de esas ventanas

Despite a bit high ticketing prices and limited parking space. It's one of the best zoos out there. You get to see animals closely.

We came on a Sunday at noon. Big mistake. Parking was horrible and there are crowds of people. For 1 adult &b1 senior, I paid $75 which is bonkers. On top of that, it's extra if you want an opportunity to feed the giraffes. Premises are beautiful but too many people. Idk how crowded it is during weekdays. Saw the park in 4 hrs. A lot of animals were sleeping/hiding so we didn't get a good look. I won't visit again. If you dine here, refills are $2 & they're only for the $10 souvenir cup😳I suggest bringing your own food/drinks as prices are outrageous! Oh & I was frustrated with the signs, they need to be better. You can take a photo with a photographer & the biggest print is $40. No thanks.

Beautiful Zoo!

I recently visited Houston Zoo over the weekend. It was quite crowded, and parking was a bit difficult to find, so I’d recommend coming early or planning ahead. Overall, the zoo felt a bit smaller than I expected and didn’t have a huge variety of animals compared to some other zoos. However, it’s still a nice place to visit, especially for families with young kids. It’s a great environment for children to learn more about animals and enjoy being outdoors. If you’re visiting with kids, I highly recommend bringing a stroller or trolley since there’s quite a bit of walking involved. In general, it’s a decent spot for a relaxed family outing, even if it’s not the biggest zoo out there 👍

Don't come here unless you want your vehicle stolen out of the parking lot... We came to the zoo 5/3/26 parked in the main parking lot G around 8:30 am for 9 am ticket. We went to the zoo until around 12:30 and found our truck to be MIA. Apparently there are no security cameras either.

We got there early about 930 and was able to park and enter with no wait. Leaving was a nightmare. We specifically parked at the end of a row so we could get our stroller and access the carseat easily. People parked 2 deep around us on stripes and just in the lanes, making it difficult to get back into our vehicle. Parking aside zoo was fantastic and even though it got busy inside never felt too crowded. Definitely grab a mad if you want to see specific animals though. I missed the giraffes first time and had to go back.
