(Translated by Google) An excellent zoo and a must-see if you're visiting Houston with your family. The facilities are vast, very well maintained, and the habitats are designed with animal welfare and visitor education in mind. I recommend dedicating at least half a day to explore it at a leisurely pace, especially the elephant and primate areas. There are plenty of shaded areas, rest areas, and places to drink, which is much appreciated on hot Texas days. A top-notch experience!

World class zoo. Several building are air conditioned. Many trees along the pathways. Fun train rides. Everyone's a kid when they board the train. DEC brings zoo lights a good event for families with kids (Zoo lights is not about seeing animals / you are supporting animals with admission fees.)

Closing down certain activities without posting it online is NOT OKAY. My family came from out of state to visit the zoo and one of the main things they wanted to do is feed the giraffes. We went during the hours that's it's offered (11am-2p) and it was closed. Not to mention the amount of empty enclosures they have right now. You also have to buy tickets only online (which is not a big issue), but I went to the windows to ask a question and the attitude that I got almost turned me away. If it wasn't for out of state family, we would not have gone inside. Over $30 for ticket... never again. I'm not even going to get into some of the conditions of the animals. Smh. I use to enjoy this zoo, but I'll now avoid it like the plague. Tickets aren't event worth $10 smh.

The Houston Zoo is a nice place to visit for a few hours. The zoo itself is well-kept, and you can tell the staff is doing their best. There's a decent variety of animals to see. However, having been to the San Antonio Zoo, the Houston Zoo feels a bit less impressive in comparison, which is why I don't find myself coming here as often. It's still a good zoo, just not as amazing as others I've seen.
