Update: new 🦖🦕 exhibit up and running until September 2024!!! The Houston zoo is a very nice zoo. We've been going since we were kids and all the updates they've done over the years definitely add to the experience. It's always clean and tidy with great locations for snacks and beverages. The staff and keepers are all awesome and very knowledgeable of their respective exhibits. There are also a ton of volunteers to chat with here too! We've recently decided to get a yearly membership because it's really nice to just be able to pop in any time you like for a stroll. It's like a stroll in the park but full of lovely and exotic animals. I used to love seeing the familiar white alligator in the reptile exhibit but they've since relocated him to a nature reserve south of Houston. The zoo can get really busy on the weekends and I would highly recommend getting here before 10am otherwise you'll be driving circles trying to find a parking spot.

My family and I attended the zoo lights tonight and my kids really enjoyed it snd it was a magical experience, even with it being after Christmas. My kids and I have had a zoo membership for the past few years now but I was highly impressed tonight. My dad fell and hit his head and I went into the cypress cafe and notified a worker and asked for ice. She immediatley called for the medics. The medics, Spencer and Gabby were very great with assisting my dad, who was ok, and very nice, friendly and reassuring with my children. They made sure we made it out of the zoo safetly after his fall. Thank you Houston Zoo and Spencer and Gabby for providing such great care to my family.

If you haven’t been to the zoo in a while, you are missing out! You don’t have to be a kid to love the zoo. It’s such an amazing experience that all ages will enjoy the exhibits! Looking for a place to have an event, business party, dress-rehearsal dinner, birthday party, Christmas party…. Yes they host all kinds of events and of various sizes with food and drinks! Cocktail party at the zoo for your customers! What better could you imagine? Yes, I absolutely love the zoo!

Clean. Just spent an incredible day at the Houston Zoo! The African Forest is absolutely stunning—watching giraffes and elephants so close was magical. Loved the lively primates, beautiful bird exhibits, and the fun children’s area. Super clean, shaded paths, and passionate staff. Perfect family adventure with strong conservation focus. 10/10, we’ll be back soon! 🦒🐘⭐️

Updated review: Great zoo! Don't go on free zoo day if you can avoid it. Also, afternoons the animals don't seem as active as in the am. Awesome zoo, but the mask patrolling is a bit much. 🙄

Love the Houston zoo! It is always a different experience every time we attend. Last April we did not even realize the new Madagascar exhibit extended below the seal tank to view them from underneath. It was a cool respite and a visual treat for everyone. There seems to always be construction and updates to the zoo which we get so excited about. I hope a playground refresh is coming soon!

So much fun. I'm glad we got a membership! A lot of new areas have completed the construction and it is AMAZING!!! I can't wait to take the kids again when it's cooler and I can stand it for more than a couple hours. 🤣 it will make a really good all day adventure.
