My condolences to the zoo staff, people of Houston and Kelly's the orangutan family. I'm old like Kelly also enjoy hiding under a blanket to get a few more minutes of sleep.. 🧡

Great zoo! The layout leads to a lot of back and forth but it’s easy to navigate. very nice enclosures for the animals and lots of information about their conservation programs and partnerships. They apparently have no ticket sales at the gate and if you’re a member of another zoo that gets you a discount it seems impossible to actually use that discount (checking any date for months always shows fully booked). They also continue to do timed entry, I’m assuming this is a hold over from covid but it’s less than convenient

Enclosures have been updated. The Galapagos exhibit is well done. The black bear exhibit is poor, and the animals seem very agitated. The elephant exhibit is poorly managed with frumpy staff with attitude Staff needs retraining. This is again about customer service. Volunteers, especially the young ones, are just walking or standing talking to themselves, which makes for a poor experience.

Perfect place to see different kinds of animals. I enjoyed seeing all them. It was truly mesmerizing. However, I did not get to see the king of the jungle. Great place to walk around, too.

Went to see the zoo lights. It is definitely a family event, and while somewhat crowded, the scheduling of ticket times keeps everything moving smoothly, including entry into the zoo. It did take about 15 minutes to find a parking spot. Lights were beautiful.
