I'm actually here right now as I'm writing this review at the Houston zoo lights. Maybe it's because it's a day after Christmas but all the exhibits don't have lights. Maybe they turn them off to try to expedite and move people along more rapidly. But I'm very disappointed in the amount of money that me and four children have paid close to $200 to zoom pass. Some exhibits were very well thought out and even caught my eye. My children love it because they're outside wasting energy, but for a paying customer I wouldn't recommend anyone coming after Christmas until they fix these other lights. I know they're in season until January 5th I believe but the total letdown. That's why I gave it a 3 out of five because my kids were happy

Houston has such a nice zoo, it’s spacious, clean, and make sure you purchase your tickets in advance online! I will say I’m not a fan of them upcharging you if you choose to go into the zoo earlier in the day so they can milk you for some extra money. Thankfully they do offer a plenty of way to get discounted tickets (military discount was fairly priced) We also went to the zoo Christmas light and while yes, it is pricey but in all honesty it was fantastic! Purchase a glow necklace and a s’mores pass (they have stations around the zoo to stop at) and enjoy the lights, there are plenty of photo opportunities. You are able to bring in your outside food and water but they want you to use reusable plastic no single use plastic so you are able to plan an entire day hanging out learning about all these awesome animals.

My family and I visit the zoo once every week with our membership. We love it so much and learn a lot each time we visit. The best time to go is right when it opens.
