I had a disappointing experience at the Houston zoo . I strongly recommend families avoid visiting around 2 p.m. Yesterday on a Sunday due to an unpleasant encounter I had with a janitor member (short African American long dreads don’t know her name ) in cafeteria. While using the restroom, I encountered an employee who was visibly upset, slamming doors and aggressively hitting them with a broom while cleaning while I was inside stall and others were too . As a six-months pregnant woman, I was particularly shocked when she forcefully swung a door open near me, seemingly because I wasn’t moving fast enough for her liking. Her behavior was unprofessional and made me feel uncomfortable and unsafe. I understand that everyone has bad days, but employees who directly interact with guests should be held to a standard of professionalism, especially in a family-friendly environment. If staff members are feeling overwhelmed or frustrated, management should address these concerns internally rather than allowing them to impact the guest experience.

LOVED IT! Very knowledgeable staff! Easy to walk through the exhibits. Certainly will visit again when in Houston. Highly recommend. Got the CityPass to save time for tickets.

Would rate 5 stars for the experience and atmosphere but parking was a TOTAL NIGHTMARE drove around with a mob of cars for over 30 mins im disabled and had to walk 10 mins to the gate with my walker. Surely there has to be a better way like more parking spaces or even a trolley to the gate. I would love to go back since many exhibits were closed. Also many park rules like dont bang on the glass at the gorilla exhibit were not enforced by any staff members. Overall it was quite fun.

A good place to spend your Saturday. The Seals and Tortoises at the entrance of the park are a treat to watch. The tunnel in the aquarium is another interesting place. While finding a parking space is like playing a game of musical chairs, the walk around golf course is refreshing.

Plan your trip. Today was a beautiful day and EVERYONE wanted to go to the Zoo. Parking was pretty much non existent. Displays and exhibits were very good and my family enjoyed the day. You can take in strollers and I saw several with ice chests.

I love this Zoo, the stuff is very helpful and always has something interesting to share about the animals. Parking, though, is absolutely terrible, they need at least 2 times more spots to accommodate all guests.

I think this is a giant daycare more than a zoo. I love zoos and I just didn’t enjoy my experience here. My fault for visiting in the middle of the day on a weekend. Zoo still was nice

Decent zoo with variety of animals. Nice that there are enclosed spaces with A/C for the hotter months. Enclosures looked well maintained and the animals looked to be thriving. Nice zoo to have a membership at for the parks, water features, and shaded spaces. (Plus the animals ofc) for people who live in the area. -1 star for: lack of signs about animals in the enclosures. One small sign at one end of an enclosure is not enough especially when sharing the space with other people. No signs guiding people to entrances of enclosed space like the sea life and aquarium tunnel, gorillas, really cool cave system in petting zoo area. Flow suggestion on maps (or app) would really enhance a first time or “just passing through” visitor like myself. Really expensive souvenirs. Offer some lower cost of souvenirs with your name on it for people on a strict budget. $10 for a small 1.5 inch magnet and $20+ for a 3 inch wood ornament is too much.
