Houston zoo was free in the 80s, then they used to let us pay with cash, now they're making us pay with debit card. SMH

This zoo is clean, friendly, and spacious. Very disability friendly as well as accessible to families with small children. The directions and direction poles can be confusing so it is very easy to miss entire sections of the zoo. I never did find the lemurs but I accidentally found the cheetah. So it was a really clean, nice, and altogether enjoyable experience. At the time I wrote this review, Houston zoo had just opened their animatronic Jurassic section. It was fun to walk through. However, their "keepsake bracelet" is a silicon dollar store type item with an animal and "Houston zoo" stamped on it. Not really impressed. So beware about their up-sell points. Feeding the giraffes was totally worth it though. You should definitely do that if you can. Very memorable experience. Thanks Houston zoo!

I love all of the redisgned exhibits and expansions the zoo has done recently. We visited on a colder day, so some animals were missing. The elephants exhibit was the best. The keeper talks were really informative, and they didn't mind answering questions. If you are budget minded, bring your own food. Pretty much any food item is expensive. They also do not have plastic lids or straws, so bring your own cup.

I loved it. Not a big zoo, but I liked that about it.
