Huge, beautiful zoo!! The grounds are gorgeous, the enclosures are large and full of enrichment, the animals are clearly well cared for. Today was extremely hot, and a lot of animals opted to stay indoors-- I can't blame them in the least! I'll have to come back when it's a little cooler and see them. Well worth the trip.

They wouldn’t let my ESA dog who is certified and vested go in the zoo with me, she is well behaved and very much needed especially in big places. I was very upset considering my family drove 14 hours to spend time with me and my husband and our dog and they don’t get to because the zoo wouldn’t let me bring my certified dog in with me.

The zoo was very fun and educational. I love all the different exhibits and how many of them are very interactive. Each exhibit has fact and information about the animals. I do suggest buy tickets in advance it’s so much easier. Your welcome to bring stroller or your own wagons or your able to rent one out , we took our cooler with some water and juices and some snacks. They also have different areas were your able to buy food or snacks or drinks.

I went there to attend a birthday party for my great-niece and it was just wonderful to see all the changes within the zoo. It is definitely a family-friendly park now with the train ride available for families in addition to a water pads area and just seating areas for families as well as pavilions and restaurants. It's great to have a wonderful family event at the park when funds is limited. If you want to rent a pavilion, it's very affordable and you must go through the city of Houston Parks and recreations to rent a pavilion. The only challenge with the zoo is parking. Parking is very strategic because it sits near the Texas medical center. I parked near a church in walked across the street to the zoo however, parking is only available for about 12 hours at the church. Be mindful that some of the parking areas near the zoo are free however hours are limited. There are also parking spots within the area you are going to be required to pay a fee to park. Towing is strictly enforced in this area because the park is located near the Texas medical center.

The zoo was good but the picture frames they sold us for $21.65 each do not stay in place the clear shield will not stay and the cashier told us once we sat the pictures up it would stay which was not true, this should’ve been disclosed, i feel I was lied to just to buy a frame when. i could’ve paid $45 for digital prints instead of $44 for 2 pics with useless frames
