It's really expensive for $40/ person. $6 for can of soda or water bottle should not be allowed.

Back then, this place wasn't too great. However, I decided to give the zoo another chance and I wasn't disappointed. The zoo made lots of improvements. There are more shaded spots for breaks and stations for food and drinks. I highly recommend packing a cooler full of refreshments since the drinks there are pretty pricey. The ICEE cups were $12.99 with $2 refills. The food at the café was expensive while tasting okay. I tried the cheese pizza and dont recommend it since the best thing about it was the ranch I dipped it in. We also had the chicken tenders, which weren't too bad but definitely needed some dipping sauce paired with it. Overall, I would definitely say that the place is a great location to go with family given the right preparations!

Amazing experience visiting this Zoo. All the animals were active, their enclosures clean and well kept. The design of the zoo itself was helpful with the 100 degree weather, and they had multiple areas that were air conditioned. Even though the heat was tough, my boyfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed walking around and seeing the animals. Many of them had fans blowing on them, and water being sprayed in them as well which made me happy to see. There was long line getting in, and tickets were sold out the day of, so definitely buy the tickets the day before online to have a chance to see everything this wonderful zoo has to offer. Highly recommend a visit if you are in the Houston area.

I was last here over 20 years ago. This place has definitely changed for the better! A lot more wooded areas, guides walking around to help you or explain something about a particular animal- the place used to feel “mechanical”, if you will. Now, it feels like you’re exploring parts of the world!

Large and nice zoo with air conditioned restaurant. As of June 2025 they're still doing improvements
