The zoo was fun, clean, and the animal exhibits were nice. We bought the city pass, which we recommend, and got in quickly. Our favorites were the penguins, sea lions, and river otters. Zoo staff were very knowledgeable about the animals, as well as helpful.

Extremely fun for children. And adults too!! They teach children about how different materials can affect the ecosystem and how long each of them naturally takes to decompose. One of my favorite things is the penny press!! You enter a penny and a quarter (I believe) and it's like a gumball machine, after choosing your animal (elephant, cheetah, monkey, lion, etc) you turn it and it flattens it out and makes a press! My 2nd favorite thing is the koi fish pond. There's so many little fellas to feed!! I love this. So many memories in just one visit...Also note that you can't walk around it in just 1 day haha. I hope you guys are doing well!! 🤣❤️

One of the nicer zoos I have been to in the US and I have traveled a lot. Could use some more locations to cool off in the Texas summer and some of the exhibits needed to be cleaned. Overall a great place for families to visit.

The Houston Zoo has been updated and is still undergoing lots of renovations. I like that you have to buy tickets online. The restrooms were clean. I know they can’t control the animals playing, but lots of animals are alone and solo in their cages. It’s sad to see. Besides that, there are lots of animals to see, and the elephants were awesome to see. It was nice to feed the giraffes too!

Nice facilities. In July some of the animals were in their indoor areas, due to the heat. Didn't get to see big cats nor orangutans presumably because of this. They let you bring in coolers with food/drinks, but food at their indoor café was very good, pricey but good. I had the harvest chicken salad. (Arugula, quinoa, feta, marinated tomato, grilled chicken & more- it was great!) A few indoor exhibits& the cafe helped us deal with Houston's heat!
