Great whale and sea life tour
Great whale and sea life tour. Comfortable vessel. Don’t expect to be a lot closer to the whales due to avoid disruption, but with binoculars or a good zoom camera lens would be Ok. The are has lots of whale activity. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. My only criticism is that the departure was late about 30 minutes I recommend this tour.

Bring your own snacks
Old boat, with quite uncomfortable seating (at least in economy - I didn't go upstairs). The website says you can eat on the boat, but their menu consists mostly of organic instant noodles, cold sandwiches, cookies and chips. Recommend buying something to bring with you.

Gail needs a change in career- customer (no) service
The phone agent I spoke to this morning at 08:02 am named Gail hang up on me because she did not want to help me with moving my reservation today, because my 2yo has confirmed RSV. We got the diagnosis at 5pm and spent the night at Seattle Children’s Hospital. Gail was mad I was calling on the same day to move the dates. She did not care that we only got the confirmed diagnosis after their call center closed yesterday (4pm). After Gail hung up on me I immediately called back and spoke to Corbin who instantly helped me and changed the reservation swiftly and without charge. Gail needs a change in career and should never work directly with the public in any shape way or form. I will be emailing reservations@clippervations.com to launch a formal complaint too.

good 1/2 day activity
Great 1/2 day activity for all. Boat was very comfortable and has lunch and drink options for purchase. Lauren the on board Biologist was very knowledgeable and friendly. We saw seals, killing whales and an orca.

I’ve ridden the Clipper once and it was great. My boyfriend wasn’t able to come on that trip so they converted his ticket to a travel credit (originally a non refundable fare). A day before departure for a rescheduled trip to use his credit a representative called my boyfriend to let him know the Clipper is canceling ferry rides on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Their reasoning: not enough bookings to run the boat. They gave me a full refund on my ticket since it was purchased recently, but would not refund my boyfriend’s ticket bought with travel credit. We are trying not to let it ruin our plans, but it is very annoying since we had an Airbnb reservation and are past the window to cancel for a full refund on the lodging. Also I never received a call about the cancellation from my ticket, so that was weird.

Amazing time ⛴️🐳 we seen a pod of Orcas sisters and 2 babies. Everyone is always asking on the instagram if they see any, I could never find a straight answer so I am here to say, yes they do in fact see wildlife. We seen orcas, bald eagles, sea lions & harbor seals. If you go to the pier you can also see dolphins and seals. The boat is comfy & the attendants were all so nice the entire time. We took the clipper to British Columbia as well a day later and we seen orcas and dolphins on the way. Teya & Tess were the BEST on the boat, we appreciate you girls!! The clipper that goes to Victoria If you want to be comfy the second floor and the top floor (comfort class) are the best. The bottom is tight, yes it’s cheaper but it is worth it to spend it going to Victoria due to the time it takes. Hands down we LOVED Victoria and the window seats!!!

Our outbound to Victoria was cancelled about two weeks prior. We were given the option to change days or get a full refund. Unable to change days I requested the refund and booked a seaplane for roughly double the price of the ferry fare in the highest class of service. I had booked a full two months in advance. They were nice and professional but the refund was never processed after multiple back and forth emails. I ended up disputing the charge with my credit card company otherwise I’m fairly confident I would be out the $475 for 2 people. Just bad customer service especially when they were the ones to cancel. If you can afford it the kenmore seaplane service was exceptional and a fraction of the time.

I took the Victoria Clipper round trip from Seattle to Victoria in March, 2025 and it was a smooth and pleasant trip both ways! The journey through the Straight of Juan de Fuca is beautiful and the ferries are clean and staffed with friendly, helpful people. I had been considering flying directly into Victoria Airport but flights on my dates were $600 more than flying to Seattle. So the ferry ride, which for me came to less than $200, (and that included splurging for the Comfort Class upstairs, which has an included self-service snack area you can enjoy!) STILL saved me $400 compared to flying. The other big advantage? You leave and arrive right in downtown Seattle and the Inner Harbour in Victoria, so you save on taxi fares too! I highly recommend this efficient ferry service between two of the most beautiful cities of the Pacific Northwest, and if you're really lucky, you may even see an orca or two during the two-hour trip! Book ahead, as the ferry does sell out in peak season.

Whale watching review. Disclaimer: did see one pod of orcas - so we saw whales. Honest review..TLDR at the bottom: Boat: 1/5 Boat does not have free standing space up front, unless they open the door and allow you up front. Everyone crowds the top level and not much space up there. The boat is not unsafe or gross, it just leaves a lot to be desired for a whale watching boat Seat: 5/5 Super comfy. No complaints Staff: 1/5 They were a bit snappy and just seemed angry to be there today. Had two separate negative interactions with staff and decided to not talk to anyone else from that. One interaction with my group was to one of the staff: Grown adult woman asking with general interest:“What kind of whales are we going to see at the inlet?” Staff member: “Big ones.” No further follow up. Very dismissive and rude. Experience: 2/5 We did see a pod of Orcas. But…it felt as if we went incredibly slow each direction, as if the company was just killing time (especially on the way back to port). I have been on a different company’s tour (not going to name drop as I am not advertising - just comparing), near Edmonds, and the experience was polar opposite. The other company’s entire experience was fast paced with the goal to find multiple pods, or different types of whales. It felt like to me, FRS accomplished their one goal and didn’t try much after that. TLDR: booked this tour, saw a pod of whales. Staff was unfriendly, tour seemed to just target one type of whale and then slow ride back home without the intent to find any other whale groups or pods while consistently trying to sell their concessions and whale photos.

The seats on the boat are comfortable and we did see a pod of orcas from kind of far away but considering our previous whale watching experience with another tour company we were kind of disappointed at the slow pace and focus on seals and birds. The staff was kind of unfriendly too and we didn’t feel like we got our money’s worth as the tour ended after 4 hours instead of 5 as advertised.

Fantastic ride upstairs. Staff was friendly and the seats were comfortable. No bad boat feeling at all. The dock situation was a little sketchy but that is due to changes and improvements.
