Our tour guide was amazing and told the stories of Iceland’s folklore in an insightful and interactive way. He shared his own life experiences which helped enhance the tour. A must do in the city of Reykjavik.

Palli is a wonderful guide! Full of so much Information not only about the food we ate and other ways to prepare or eat it, but we learned so much more about Reykjovic, it's people and customs. We may not have enjoyed all the food, esp the open face sandwiches, but what a treat to eat the hot dogs, the soups, and the chocolate!

We had a fantastic city tour with Ester. She met us at our hotel (the Parliament) and gave us an indepth 2 hour tour that covered all the city highlights and ended at the main church. Her knowledge of Iceland and it's history was impressive and she was able to give us a great base of knowledge that helped us to better appreciate the rest of our time in Reykjavic. Definitely would recommend.

The taste of Iceland food tour was fantastic! Our guide, Ester, was so welcoming, it was like exploring the city with a new friend. The variety of food, along with the history was perfect for our first trip to Iceland.

Had a great experience with Your Friend in Reykjavík, taking three tours in two days as a solo traveller. 4 stars for Folklore Walk: some interesting stories, themed to the areas/environments we visited. I especially enjoyed the jaunt through the graveyard (I’d spied it earlier in the day but wasn’t sure how to get in!). Only recommendation would be to link stories together a little more. 5 stars for the Cat Walk: I was very lucky to be the only walker on this particular day so had a great 1:1 wander with Ester and the company’s PR lead who was grabbing some footage for socials. It definitely felt like I had two wonderful local friends! Popping in to different stores to enquire about the local cats gave me a lot of childlike glee - and it was great to hear the locals talk about their experiences with the cats and it was clear how much they enjoyed having them drop by too. I was very lucky and saw all of the cats we intended to find, even getting to give the Queen herself (Ofelia) a few pats as she slumbered on her blanket throne. The stories Ester shared were fantastic - I loved dropping into the bookstore to add another dimension to the Yule Lads and the Yule Cat (plus pulling up Bjork’s version of the Yule Cat song). The cat cafe was a nice opportunity to take a break and the snack/hot chocolate was lovely. It was obvious too that the cats there are very well loved and adore having lots of humans drop in. 4 stars for Storyteller: upstairs at Harbour House is a lovely place to sit with a drink and the other guests and the guide (this time it was just the 3 of us). Again, it was another experience of really feeling like I had a local friend. They shared two stories from the Sagas but also discussed Icelandic culture more broadly and was able to help compare to Australian life due to personal experience. They also provided some fantastic recommendations for food and things to do (thank you for recommending the Sundholl pool - it was just what I needed after multiple days walking 10km around the city!). Only suggestion would be to add in a multimedia element, like I’d had with the cat tour - there was a projector and screen upstairs which I thought would be used. Even so, the stories were still engaging and told well (lots of dramatic gasps and oh no groans from me as some questionable choices were made by the folk of old). I’d highly recommend this tour company for unique experiences with knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate guides.

We had a great and informative street food tour with Stephán. His stories were funny, exciting and he answered every (!) question we had. It was really nice to get a glimpse into islandic tradition! Even the Hákarl was not so bad, thanks to Stepháns instrucions. Thanks!

Our guide Paul was a delight, very knowledgeable about the downtown area, fun side information about history and traditions. He gave us time for purchasing items and we did not feel rushed. Enjoyable tour, be sure and try everything (including the shark…)!
