The gondola ride was nice but this was not the advertised tour. Most of the time we were on the main canal used by the water taxis, so not really off the beaten path.

Le sue illustrazioni attente e leggere allo stesso tempo, rimangono impresse nel visitatore come, ad esempio i particolari della costruzione del Criptoportico concepito dallo stesso architetto che progettò la Reggia, che riprodusse un area di scavi archeologici con squarci sulle volte e crepe utilizzando, però, statue realmente provenienti da scavi La sua professionalità e simpatia hanno reso il tour davvero straordinario.

Huge palace based on Versailles plan dwarfs anything in Rome
We only had a very brief run (and I do mean run) through this palace but we will be back and I hope north Americans and others visiting naples will find their way here, it is only 38 km north of Napoli. The bourbon monarchs of the kingdom of the Two sicilies (or thr kingdom of naples and sicily) built this palace and grounds roughly from 1750 to 1845 (ncludibg additions, renovations etc). It is the largest palace built in Europe in the 18th century. The idea here was to awe thr visitors, and they certainly awed this one. The grand stairway, for example, rivals anything in Paris. The throne room is huge. Of course, it will not be lost on many visitors that this complex was built just as the winds of change and revolution were tearing through Europe. As they were building this, the American rebellion occurred, and later, Bolivar liberated south America, etc. I will have to read about this, but I can't think of any outstanding feats by the Bourbons in the realm of the arts, or on the battlefield. But they did give us these magnificent grounds and royal apartments. We thank them for that. I want know how much it all cost. The kingdom was wealthy. Enjoy!

Esperienza a tutto tondo
Complice la simpatia e preparazione della nostra guida, Alessia, abbiamo fatto un giro spettacolare sia della Reggia che dei giardini; dalle sale interne alle "finte" cripte romane, un'esperienza davvero unica. Cosa vuol dire "finte"? Fate il tour e lo scoprirete! Piccolo indizio: il tetto è pericolante di proposito.

Amazing Adventure!
We happened to tour the morning of June 2 when the first eruption had just started. Fabio was so enthusiastic and shared loads of interesting facts and pictures of past eruptions- everyone was excited to be there! We were unable to reach 2900m and had to travel via 4x4 vans instead of cable car but it did not take away from the experience at all. The bus overheated 2x on our climb out of the city up to the park but our driver Carmello was quick with the water to cool it down and get us back on our way. I would definitely recommend a TUI tour to anyone, they do an excellent job. Thanks Fabio for a fun-filled, memorable experience!
