We took a private tour of the Colosseum with arena floor, Forum, and Palatine Hill with Marta. We had a group of 8, including two young kids. Marta was amazing. Extremely knowledgeable on all the sites. It was an excellent tour. She was great with our family, offering to take pictures of us along the way. She knew all the best spots for group photos. We all really learned alot from this tour. I liked how she had a tablet with a bunch of pictures of what things looked like at different time points, and other helpful visuals. Thank you so much Marta for a great tour. Additionally, we took a separate private tour of the Vatican with Guia. She was also fantastic and had so much knowledge of the art and history. We also learned a ton on this tour, and she kept the entire group engaged. You could tell she has a huge passion for the art and history and it definitely made for a great tour. Thank you very much to our two guides Guia and Marta!!

Beware of Through Eternity Tours. While they advertise small groups, my experience suggests they do not consistently vet or supervise the guides they send out. Here are three tour experiences where we were genuinely disappointed — and in ways that point to systemic issues, not bad luck. 1. Essential Venice Tour: Highlights of the Floating City Private Tour — Not as Advertised Our private Venice tour did not include all the items listed. The guide was late, difficult to identify in a crowded area, and the tour itself was filled with long, awkward silences unless we initiated conversation. The website advertised “Hidden Gems” including the spectacular labyrinth of Venice, a Traditional Venetian Bacardi (wine bar) and the Acqua Alta Bookshop. We didn’t see any of that. All we saw was Doges Palace and St. Mark’s Square/Basilica (and not even all of the Basilica. Venice is so much more than what we were shown and the tour didn’t deliver as advertised. For the price, we would have been better off buying our own tickets and using an audio guide. Save your money. 2. Essential Sistine Chapel, Vatican Museums & St. Peter’s Basilica Semi-Private Tour — Misleading Information We originally booked an early-access Vatican tour. Knowing it was Good Friday, I contacted Through Eternity ahead of time to confirm we would have access. Their representative, Eva F., assured me the Vatican would be open with regular hours. After booking, they contacted us and said due to scheduling they couldn’t get access in the early morning and they had to move us to the Essentials tour at 9 a.m. Then, they contacted us and said they had to move the tour to 9:30 a.m. Then, the day before the tour, they informed us we would not have access to St. Peter’s. This was not due to Vatican closures — I saw the posted hours myself in the square. This was poor planning and a lack of reliable contacts. We ended up doing a Vatican tour without seeing St. Peter’s, which was the entire reason we booked it. 3. St. Peter’s Dome Climb — Unethical Behavior This was the final straw. We were told to arrive at 7:05 a.m., but the guide was not there. When she arrived and asked if we were ready, both families said yes. She then immediately cut into the massive public line that stretched across the square — a line full of people who had been waiting since before sunrise. She pushed through the crowd, telling people her “group was inside,” which was not true. People yelled at us and the other family. It was embarrassing and completely unnecessary. Other tour groups were using a proper guide entrance; ours was not. Once inside the security perimeter, we had to wait again while she bought dome tickets — nothing was pre-arranged. The guide offered a few interesting facts, but nothing that justified the cost or the unethical approach. To top it all off, we booked some of these tours the last week of December when they were advertising significant sales (20-25% off their original pricing. I took advantage of that only to find out they jacked up their prices. Later in January I saw their regular pricing was lower than my discounted pricing for some tours. While they did refund my money, it took 30 business days to get my money back. It just felt like a deceptive practice to inflate pricing to pretend they are offering a sale. Bottom Line After multiple failures — inaccurate information, poor planning, unprofessional guides, and in one case, outright dishonesty — I cannot recommend Through Eternity Tours. 2 of these 3 guides didn’t even have flags or signs that say Through Eternity which would help identify them in a crowded area. Save your money and avoid the embarrassment. Other companies we used through Viator provided excellent, well-organized experiences with guides who were professional and prepared.

We had an amazing time visiting the Colosseum and Forum! Our guide, Donatello, was incredibly knowledgeable. My daughters, ages 13 and 14, loved the toue! I was really impressed with how Donatella kept them engaged the entire time. I would definitely recommend this tour!
