I liked getting out of Rome and into the countryside to experience the rural landscape and history. There are some significant remnants of the Etruscan civilization that were very interesting, and getting to see the very well preserved castle at Bracchiano complete with some original furnishings was a highlight. Patrick was very knowledgeable and personable. I recommend this trip for anyone who has already seen the Rome highlights and had enough of the crowds. A peaceful and calming way to explore beyond the tourist centers.

Amazing but very crowded

The Artwork in these places is amazing! The history of all these places is very interesting - but be warned very crowded!!! Make sure you are up to weaving through crowds of people to do this.

Delightful tour

Lia was very knowledgeable and made the tour delightful. The only problem was the heat inside of the facility. It would have been nice to be prepared for that.

The guide was great (Lynette) and we were only a small group of 4 people which made the visit really enjoyable. We were able to skip the lines as well. 110€ per person is way too expensive though

Shuffling through the Vatican

The sights on this tour are amazing and our tour guide was very knowledgeable and organized. It was truly disappointing that we spent most of the tour shuffling along in a never ending and never stopping crowd with no time to pause and actually look at something. For what seemed an interminable length of time we shuffled through almost 30 galleries of statues and Etruscan pottery. Finally after two hours we were ushered into the Sistine Chapel. Our tour guide had given us an excellent introduction. Once there we were allotted 10 minutes to take in the magnificence of the ceiling. This was followed by a similar non-stop tour through St. Peter’s Basilica. Entering ahead of a line of hundreds of general admission visitors was a real plus, though. This tour is front end loaded to the Vatican museums galleries of statues and pottery. To me, I would rather have spent the time in the amazing galleries of renaissance paintings, which we never saw, and considerably less time in the ancient galleries. Disappointing, given the steep cost. .

Alot of history to see...

Alot of history to see with lots of walking. Our guide was OK, but very monotone with her voice, kind of put me to sleep. What a feeling walking into the Sistine Chapal to think about all the Pope's that have been chosen in this building. The highlight of the tour was the Saint Peters Basilica. There is no way to explain the impact of the visual you get when you enter the Basilica. A must to see if you get to Rome.

Great Tour of Coleseum and Palatine Hill area

Claudia is a very personable and knowledgable tour guide. She does not rush through things and takes time to answer questions. She is very friendly and my wife and I had a nice time speaking with her about the tour as well as other things to do in Rome. She is very knowledgeable about the history of Rome and the Colesrum and shared with us some very interesting stories. Highly recommended? Thank you Claudia!

The guide gave detailed information, carefully navigated through the crowds in the galleries. This was our second TE tour and they have both been excellent.

This tour was very informative and provided a lot of interesting information. The only reason for giving it 4 out of 5 stars was the absolute nightmare it was trying to keep up and find the tour guide at times because of the crowds. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the Vatican. It’s definitely worth doing!

Our guide Guia was so knowledgeable, patient and terrific in leading us around the forum and the coloseum and had a great sense of humour. She was really amazing talking the whole time and yet giving us space at times to take it all in and take photos without being rushed. A trip of a lifetime made all the more special by her expertise and care of us.

Ludi was the perfect tour guide. She patiently walked us around Florence hitting many of the top sights, and informing us of their historical context. She was able to answer all of our questions weaving in interesting back stories and medieval and Renaissance gossip. So fun. Highly recommend this tour.

The value added by the...

The value added by the Viator representative was minimal. The official Domus Aurea guide did a fine job, and the 3D presentation was great. I would not recommend anything other than an official tour to a friend - it’s not worth the extra money to pay for Viator in this case.

This was my second tour with this company and I only have excellent things to say. The guides are professionals with tremendous knowledge of Rome, its history and art. And group sizes are small. I was one of three with a guide. Further, the company excels in making the experience as efficient as possible. I’ve done free tours (that aren’t free) with a group size of thirty. This is def worth the extra time!
