Our family has traveled to Alaska twice for vacation, once with our immediate family of 4 and this week with our extended family of 12. Both times we booked snowmobiling with Rod’s Alaskan Guide Service and both times our expectations were blown out of the water! This trip (December 29, 2024) our guide was Josh and he was incredibly kind and helpful with every member of our group, patiently helping my Mom who checked a bucket list item off by participating, but has minor mobility issues. We saw moose on our two hour adventure, traversed some of the most beautiful terrain we’ve ever seen, and enjoyed conversation and a seamless check in at the main check in location. We were able to meet Rod and he was so kind and friendly, along with everyone on his team. It’s a family run establishment and his daughter Victoria was the most amazing help at booking our trip!!! Also….the bathrooms are the nicest and cleanest you will find and the hot beverage machine is delicious!!! (Important things for the ladies in our group!🥰) My family had the BEST time and made priceless memories!! Can’t recommend this high enough!!

Rod’s is a very well run guide service that provided wonderful experiences for our family in Fairbanks. We booked the dog sled for our kids, ice fishing and snow machines across 2 days. I was a little worried when we drove up due to the large scale of the operation, but those concerns were eliminated by the personalized service and attention of the staff and each of our three guides. The guides were energetic and friendly despite doing these activities hundreds of times over the season. The warmer jackets, boots and helmets they provided for our 2-hour snowmachine tour in -20 degree temps were very high quality and incredibly clean and well maintained — the best we’ve ever had after many of these types of excursions with other outfitters. Thanks for making our trip incredible!

Best Snowmobile Guide experience

The routes we were taken on were incredibly fun with beautiful views. Rod Jr. and Josh did a great job as guides. Knowledgeable about the area while throwing in tid bits of Alaskan history made for unique experience. They also struck the best mix of providing a safe route while making it fun.

You need to do this! Amazing family memory!

First time ice fishing and it was amazing! Trevor took care of a full cabin of 14 people. Heated cabin was cozy and did not feel crowded at all. We had the option of going back and forth inside and out to fish which was very cool. Trevor not only prepared all the fish we caught, but also we had a sausage in a bun as well. 5 hours went by so fast and would 100% recommend and do again!

Amazing Dog Sledding with Laura Allaway.

This was my first time for Alaska and dogsledding. Laura Allaway was our musher and she was fantastic! The ride and scenery was awesome but also we learned a lot about Alaskan life, a dog’s life and mushing from Laura. If you come to Alaska you need to dog sled.

Northern Lights & Ice Fishing Experience - Alaska

We bought tickets for the ice fishing/aurora watching experience and it was worth all our money! Mike was an amazing host and carried SUPERB energy throughout the entirety of the night (we did the 10pm-3am timeframe). It was truly a wonderful and super fun experience, especially as this was our 1st time visiting. 10/10 would definitely recommend!

Dog Sledding/Mushing Experience - Alaska

Jimmy was amazing! We had such a great time participating in the dog mushing with him & his adorable doggos. He was a great musher and we had a lot of fun learning more about the job. 10/10 would recommend!

Lucky Day

I booked this for my Fiance but I had an absolute blast. Our guide, Noah, was friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating! Our cabin was very lucky and caught 11 fish. I caught 3 but my partner wasn’t lucky. The sausages were good and eating the fish was delicious.

Laura Allaway at Rods Is the best!!

The dog sledding was amazing and our guide @Laura-Allaway was so sweet, informative and clearly loved her dogs. For the dogs their “work” is clearly not work. They love every minute of the run and we did too!!

Snowmobiling Adventure: A Thrilling Bucket List Experience!

I had the absolute best time on my snowmobiling adventure! The natural landscape was breathtaking—pristine snow covered trails surrounded by stunning views made every moment magical. It was the perfect blend of high energy and pure fun, giving me the adrenaline rush I needed. Our guide, Victoria, was phenomenal. She was not only knowledgeable but also incredibly friendly and down-to-earth, which made the experience. She even offered photos and took a video of me!

Ice Fishing- A Must Try!!!

Noah, our ice fishing guide, was the best! He was very professional, attentive, and informative. He went above and beyond his responsibilities. The heated cabin was perfect in the very cold winter Alaskan weather. It was comfortable. Our party caught some king salmon which was very deliciously seasoned and grilled by Noah. The water, hot cocoa, and reindeer sausage were good. They were grilled on-site, making them taste better. Don’t hesitate to book this activity. Rod’s Alaskan Guide is very organized and you will be well taken care of. Just enjoy the experience.

Snowmobiling tour

Amazing! We had never snowmobiled before and Rodney gave great instructions. He took pictures of our family along the trail. He was a great guide!

Excellent and Thrilling Family Fun!

Rod's snowmobiling was an awesome family activity! Great outdoor gear was provided to keep us all extra warm. Snowmobiles were top of the line and well maintained. The heated helmets and handles were a bonus! Our guide, Victoria, gave us a great intro and made us comfortable the entire trip. She was awesome! Tip: Please get there early as they recommend, so that you can get geared up and leave on time. Our group had some stragglers that made for a late start. Super fun activity!

A Scenic and Exhilarating Adventure!!!!

My family had the most amazing time on the snow machine experience! Our guide, Victoria was very professional and thorough in explaining the mechanics of the tour with a focus on safety. She gave us enough time to take photos and made sure that we were having a great time. The trails offered breathtakingly scenic views, with snowy landscapes that looked like something out of a postcard. The ride itself was exhilarating, blending the thrill of speed with moments to pause and take in the serene beauty around. The staff at Rod’s Alaskan Guide were incredibly friendly, and helpful and made us feel comfortable the whole time. It was organized from reservation, and check-in to the end of the activity. Whether you’re an adrenaline junkie or just looking for a unique way to enjoy the winter scenery, this experience is a memorable one!

Awesome!!

Trevor our guide was awesome! So helpful & knowledgeable. He helped to make sure we got fish to eat, let us stay inside the warm cabin but also go outside the cannon to fish in ice holes. Fish for dinner was cooked & so delicious! They do not offer transportation so make sure you have it set up ahead of time, but so worth it!!

Dog Mushing

Cooper was fantastic- we did the 30 min option and it was too quick. It was pretty cold but definitely could have gone on much longer. Cooper was great with the dog mushing facts, and was very passionate about the dogs he was working with. It was awesome to hear him talk about his team. Have gone with Rod’s before for the snowmobiling, and have had great experiences each time. Thanks, Cooper!
