Had a great time with Captain A’alona and Kana. They took great care of us, learned everyone’s name and where we were from. So amazing to hear all the historical and personal stories from native Hawaiians. Beautiful coastline, spinner dolphins, and although a little choppy, still got a taste of the amazing caves. A little too rough for snorkeling, but the three schools of dolphins made up for it. Recently found out the word Makana means gift. Truly a gift to be able to explore the coast in this way. Thank you for allowing us into your backyard.

We had an amazing time with Makana Charters in early October! We booked this experience through Viator. The entire experience was extremely professional, we always felt safe, and the crew was great. We sailed on the Napili Kai 3, and the boat itself was spectacular. The inside portion (where we would sit and walk) was all made of foam, which made it non-slippery and very comfortable to walk on. Throughout the tour, the crew explained aspects of Kauai, the wildlife, and the many geological formations. They struck a good balance of being informative and humorous. The lunch they provided was also great. While this was a snorkeling tour, it seemed that the waters were too choppy to go snorkeling, so instead we went swimming over some calm waters. It was very refreshing and enjoyable, although it would have been nice to go snorkeling. Nevertheless, we were still able to see some dolphins, flying fish, and birds during our tour. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this tour. While it may seem a bit pricey at first, after going through the tour, I think the pricing was appropriate.

I have toured with a couple of other boat tour companies on the island and Makana Charters is definitely my favorite!!! My family and I were on the Na Pali Kai III. It was very comfortable and having a restroom was an extra plus. From the captain's impressive ability to navigate so close to the caves and waterfalls to the crew's kindness, humor, knowledge and tips, they all did a fantastic job! We saw bottlenose and spinner dolphins, along with a turtle. A quick dip and swim in the ocean, lunch, and a relaxing trip back, made for a perfect day! Well done Makana Charters! Mahalo nui loa for an amazing time!

Amazing trip; captain and crew were great; there are no words for how beautiful the Napali coast is! Captain took us to spot were we saw pods of dolphin; maneuvered into water caves! Highly recommend this trip!

I did my research on boat tours to the Na Pali Coast and all seem to have great reviews, so I looked for a morning tour that had the latest start time from Port Allen as I had to make the drive from Lihue and didn't want to wake up early. Being from Honolulu, I also checked for tours with Kamaaina rates which this tour had :)! My daughter and I ended up on the Amelia K morning tour. The crew, Shawn, Elijah and Ethan were awesome. I was sick as a dog for most of the trip (even after taking Dramamine!) but they took good care of me, making sure I was okay. I don't regret taking the tour as I was still able to take in the beautiful scenary and hear the history and stories of the coast. These guys are locals, born and raised in Kauai, and you can feel the love and respect they have for their aina (land/earth). Thank you for a once in a life time journey that I'll never forget! Notes for those contemplating the tour: 1) We did see dolphines and turtles 2) Shawn is very entertaining and funny! 3) Ethan loves to sing and got mad when Shawn turned off the music - they should think about adding Karaoke to the boat tour! 4) We went on a really nice day so we were able to get up close to some of the caves 5) There was a stop early on in the tour where we were able to swim/snorkle and they had all the snorkeling gear and floats available for use 6) The bathroom was clean, but small (there were two bathrooms) 7) The boat didn't feel crowded

Can not say enough amazing things about this trip and the captain and crew. They made sure everyone was comfortable safe and enjoyed the day. At 65 I was nervous about snorkeling but they guided me right through and were super vigilant about making sure everyone was safe. The captain amazingly navigated the caves on the coast and even had music that supported the overall experience. Fantastic day!!
