This was probably the highlight of our trip to Australia. We had wanted to spot at least a couple of kangaroos and here you can hand feed and pet them- bonus! The staff are friendly and the sanctuary is very well priced, with many free shows throughout the day (so arrive as early as possible to see them all, or check the website for specific times). There are also, of course, an abundance of adorable koalas. The only caveat was that the koala experience seemed very rushed. There were only a handful of people participating in our slot and we still didn’t get much time with the koala. However, the lady leading the experience was extremely knowledgeable and friendly.

Very cool place. Plenty to see, you need easily half day to see all. Nice outdoor parc.

We love the vastness of this sanctuary. They have a lot of animals koalas kangaroos, birds, dingos, wombats, platypus including the Tasmanian devil. But beware though because the kangaroo field is full of their droppings. Do spend a minimum of 3 hours to enjoy the sanctuary and book ahead. Come early before the noon rush.

(Translated by Google) Lone Pine Zoo truly lives up to its reputation as the world's largest koala zoo; the number of koalas here is incredible! And you can see koalas everywhere, without having to squeeze in with the crowds; you can find comfortable spaces to observe them. ▍Tickets No need to buy tickets in advance! I know many people are used to buying tickets online before they go. But this is a strange place; buying tickets in advance doesn't necessarily have an advantage. At the main entrance, the ticket checkpoint is divided into two lanes: the left is for pre-purchased tickets, and the right is for on-site ticket purchases. As a result… the vast majority of tourists buy tickets in advance, so the queues are extremely long. We bought our tickets at the machine on-site and went directly to the front of the line to enter. If you absolutely must buy tickets online in advance, otherwise you'll feel insecure, please buy them on the official website; it's more cost-effective. Many Taiwanese tourists are used to buying tickets online through KKDAY or KLOOK, and although there are Chinese websites, you might end up losing out. For example, if you're a family of four (two adults and two children), buying tickets online through KKDAY or KLOOK would cost around NT$3900. However... the official website offers a family combo ticket – "Family - 2 Adults + up to 3 Children (3-13 years)" – for only AUD$180 (approximately NT$3600), and this ticket can be used for two adults and three children! So, if you have this kind of group, you'll save even more! If you only have one adult bringing a child, there's also a combo ticket (one adult + up to three children) for only AUD$124. Therefore, tickets don't necessarily need to be purchased in advance. The only things that need to be purchased online are the fees for other activities you want to participate in. For example, taking photos with the koalas requires purchasing online in advance, as there are limits on the number of people allowed per time slot. Many other activities can also be purchased online; you can check out their "Wildlife Experiences" section on the official website. ▍Koala Photo Opportunities Lone Pine Zoo discontinued its koala-holding photo opportunity in July 2024. Now, to take photos with a koala, it's placed in a tree, and you stand next to it while a staff member takes multiple photos with your phone. If you really want to hold a koala for a photo and your itinerary includes the Gold Coast, Currumbin Zoo is recommended. They still allow koala-holding photos, but only adults can hold them. If children want to hold koalas, Dreamworld amusement park is recommended. Children can still hold koalas for photos there. ▍Restaurants Please eat before you come, as there are no restaurants, only a very basic little coffee shop. ▍Transportation Parking is free if you are driving. If you are coming from Brisbane city center, take bus number 430, which takes about 40 minutes and goes directly to the zoo entrance.

So much fun for everyone, we spent about 3 hours there but could've spent longer! It's a huge sanctuary with many different types of animals, not just koalas and kangaroos. Highlight was the free range area to feed and pet kangaroos. Would recommend going earlier in the day, as they have some free animal shows on (eg. flying raptors, dingos, wild lorikeet feeding)

Lovely place to walk around looking at all the animals. The cafe and gift shop was poor for a place that attracts a lot of tourists.

Amazing day out with lots more to see than just Koalas. The sheep dog and bird of pretty shows were great and a must do. The koala experience was well run and unforgettable. With over 100 koalas there's lots of opportunities for pictures and to get up close to these beautiful animals. Great food in the cafe too, thoroughly recommend.

Great Sanctuary Visit
We had a great time at Lone Pine Sanctuary. It was amazing to see all the animals. Everywhere we walked there were Koala enclosures. It felt like we were in a Koala Forest. The rangers were helpful and the free shows were a treat. The only disappointment was the photo moments, you had to pay $35 per family member to meet a Koala up close and you had to use you your OWN phone or camera. No professional photo was available. Such a rip off.

The HIGHLIGHT of our trip to Brisbane
Going to Lone Pine was THE BEST decision we made in Brisbane!! We booked the ALL STAR TOUR and highly recommend it. It's a small group, private tour that starts right when the park opens. You'll start being the first to feed the kangaroo females their breakfast, you'll meet the Emus, learn a bunch of interesting facts, be able to ask questions, and then head over to have your experience with the platypus. You'll partake in the platypus feeding, but you won't touch the platypus (they are quite dangerous!) Then you'll have a private reptile experience with a snake and her handler. After that, your small group will have their private moment with a Koala which you can pet and take photos with. The tour will end with the bird show, where you will have front row seats waiting for you. After the bird show, your small group will have a private experience with holding one of the owls or birds and taking a photo. The tour ends there, but you can head to the free sheep dog show right after which is adjacent to the location of bird show. We really liked our tour guide, Madi, and got SOOO many great photos to remember our time at Lone Pine. Will be recommending this to everyone we know.
