This zoo is very well maintained. The animals are well cared for and gorgeous. They have a wide variety of species from around the world. The Galapagos exhibit is excellent. Komodo dragon amazing. The pigmy hippo is playful and fun. In spite of being crowded due to spring break there was always comfortable space to watch the animals. My only concern is that some of the confinement spaces are very small - in particular for big cats. This zoo is part of Hermann park - a gorgeous green area in the middle of Houston.

I usually come as often as I can with my kiddos. We've had a membership for several years and they still love coming to the zoo! We love seeing all the animals and visiting the children's area. Depending on the day and time, parking can be a challenge. We typically bring our own food and drinks, but there are lots of cafe/snack areas and the prices are not too bad in a pinch.

It was a hit it and quit it for us here! The exhibit is are put together very well and the zoo is clean. We did the Jurassic Lizard and it was ok. The animatronics was nice but there was no info on the dinosaurs just the names. Plenty of photo ops inside the Jurassic portion. Plenty of exhibits and since we got there pretty late, we didn't get a chance to see them all. The only con, it is located downtown. There's a hospital directly across the street and Airlife makes constant trips. Sirens always going off and add that to the people and animals sounds, it's LOUD. Overall, a nice zoo and clean.

I paid $40 a ticket for adults and $16 dollars a ticket per child. There is no way the houston zoo is worth even close to these prices. This is Highway robbery. The zoo is very boring 1 to 2 animals at be sleeping all day in most places you cant even see them. Not upset with the animals, they are in captivity. The zoo closes at 5 pm. Not nearly worth the money. The kids were happy but they are small. This is so overated for the price. Didnt even make it to the children petting zoo because it was closed by the time we got there!! Never have to go here again. It stupid to have fluctuating prices instead of a set price. The zoo is already making tons of money no need to rob a family for spending quality time with their children.

Ended up at Houston Zoo with my family of 5. We are tired, tired, but it was a great experience. Word of advice—have patience and plan ahead if you’re coming during spring break. Wish the animals were more active and engaged—didn’t get to see the bears, and the lions were knocked out. But the gorillas had a full-on family dispute, which was the most exciting part!

So we bought tickets online with the assumption that we'd get parking at the zoo since we HAD tickets But NO!! WE CIRCLED FOR ABOUT 45mins in TRAFFIC until we found a spot. Oh my goodness, it was horrible. This is why we hadn't gone in a few years. The entrance in was easy going. The zoo is bigger and was really nice. We totally enjoyed our time. The elephants we enjoyed the most. The train was extremely packed and for the 1st time ever,I didn't get to ride. We'll be back in a year or two.

Love the zoo. Everything is great when you get inside, parking is crazy I guess because of spring break. Such a shame people dont have any respect for others waiting for a spot and just steal.

Waste of time and money, first of all the parking took about 2 hours and there are no refunds. Inside there are more of empty cages and as well as empty aquarium which was one of the biggest attractions they had, overall disappointed, kinda seems like the zoo is building more things to sell other than to attract. Never in my life will I go there again.
