Went to the Houston zoo for the first time and was very impressed. There was some construction going on and the guys working up in the air were doing something that caused a horrible smell like burning acrylic and about two dozen other people began gagging and coughing and running from the area. That was wild. Otherwise, the zoo is very well cared for, clean, and well shaded. Highly recommend!

Havent been in a while. Lots of upgrades..Lots of seating along the way in each section. Food and shops along the way also. Check times if you want to see sertain big animals. Visit when they will be out not on a break or habitat getting renovated or something.

It was great, I hadn't visited the Zoo since I was very little more then 10 years at least. But be warned ⚠️ finding parking will be difficult if you come late ⚠️ I'm not sure if this happens every week-end or what. But some lanes get closed/blocked with traffic cones. In the roundabouts, and since a lot of people like you visit the park, most of the right lanes are full of parked cars. My sister dropped my off close to the enterance but that was only after circle around a few times trying to figure out how to get closer to the zoo enterance. The temperature was the 80 and around noon when I went. It wasn't unbearablely hot, there was plenty of shade and breezes through the walk ways. I didn't get to see all the exhibits because I ran out of time and. I got turned around a few times. They are currently renovating parts of the Zoo. The walkways that would have passed by the penguins are block, it's a dead end.

Love the new exhibit, featuring the underwater tunnel! Photo of the seal :) we spent about 3.5 hrs during our visit with 2 kiddos (3yrs and 4 mths) The family room in the cafe is great for baby needs. Amazing day!
