Humpbacks and Orcas Zodiac with Cam
We had a fantastic morning whale watching with SpringTide Tours in Victoria on Saturday, July 25, and Cam made the trip even better! Cam was friendly, funny, and incredibly knowledgeable. He shared fascinating information about Vancouver Island, the tides, humpback whales, and orcas, and happily answered all of our questions. His enthusiasm made the whole experience so much more enjoyable. The highlight of the trip was watching two humpback whales, including one that put on an unforgettable show! It breached completely out of the water, repeatedly waved its giant pectoral fin at us, and even lifted its tail as if it were saying goodbye. It was truly one of those magical wildlife moments our family will never forget. We were hoping to see a bit more wildlife overall, but that’s nature—and seeing that humpback perform made the trip absolutely worthwhile. If you’re booking with SpringTide, definitely ask for Cam. He was an outstanding guide, and we’d happily go out with him again!

Whale wayching
The guide was very knowledgable and helped show us when we could see whales. But we were not able to get close per rules she told us.

Disappointing experience – not worth the price. I was disappointed with this tour and wouldn't recommend it, especially given how expensive it is. After cruising for over an hour and a half, we only saw two whales and a few seals, all from quite a distance. Having taken similar whale watching tours in the past with much better experiences, this one fell short. Save your money.

The whale watching tour was a great experience! We saw three gray whales, seals and seal ions. The crew us very friendly and accommodating. We had a great time on board!

Wonderful Experience
Enjoyed the excursion with family. The ship was very comfortable and modern. The snacks offered were delicious. It was nice being in the water for a hot day!!!

Easy check-in with barcode. Spare waiting area. Clean and comfortable boat with coffee bar and sandwich/hotdog service. Guide provided very insightful information about the sea life, habitat, conservation, etc. Day was cold, cloudy and rainy (even in July) but felt safe. Be patient with the whales as we are on their schedule!

Wildlife is wildlife and you can't board expecting to see something. We were lucky enough that we saw a humpback and a grey whale. Xack was our naturalist and photographer and he was amazing. The captain made sure to give us a smooth ride while sticking around to make sure everyone sees the whales and get pictures. Staff was mindful of everyone's experience. Comfortable seating, with warm interior and open air seating upstairs. Drinks were delicious, must try their signature drink. Thanks for a great day.

An Exciting First Whale Watching Experience
This was my first-ever whale watching trip. We were fortunate enough to spot a baby orca multiple times throughout the tour. Whale watching requires patience, attention, and quick reactions, as you need to be ready to look in the right direction the moment the guide spots a whale surfacing. It is not as easy as it seems, but that is part of what makes the experience so exciting. Overall, it was a fantastic trip with a professional crew, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an unforgettable wildlife experience.

We saw two humpback whales going through several rounds of breathing and then diving. Also two of the three gray whales currently in the Puget Sound, feeding very close to shore.
