Great tour! Full of highlights
Gregory with City Wonders was AWESOME! He provided the basic information that we could hear many other guides saying, but he pointed out prime paintings and sculptures that they missed and what made them so special. The individual headsets not only afforded us the opportunity to hear the information, but we were also able to find him in crowds as he gave EXCELLENT directions that we could follow without being able to see him.

Great tour with Nazil as our guide! It was so easy to get into the museum without standing in long lines. Tour was interesting and we were able to stay to enjoy more at the end. The sandwich in the cafe was good too! Overall great day!

Great day trip to Montepulciano and Pienza
Great day trip away from Rome. Montepulciano and Pienza were both beautiful cities with gorgeous views and great wine and shops. Our guides were very knowledgeable.

There is no better way to see the cemetery then with John. His knowledge of history, and the people whose graves we visited was unmatched. He was absolutely great and one of the highlights of our trip!

Great tour of the Louvre....
Great tour of the Louvre. I have been before while my wife had not. It was led by a great guide who took us to the most important works in the gallery. The explanations were excellent and easy to follow. Having a good guide of a large museum like the Louvre makes for a much better experience and less overload. Based off this experience, I greatly recommend this company and the tour.

Beautiful Breakfast at the Vatican
What a great experience. We attended the day after the Pope passed and the mood was a little somber. Firstly, the coffee served at breakfast has to be the best in Rome, God’s coffee. Nothing else compares. Seriously. The City Wonders guide is an art history major and provided so much detail on what we were seeing and its context. That alone really made this an excellent tour. I highly recommend! We moved quickly through the mandatory lines and then used our time to explore the details that we were interested in. Excellent tour!!

A lot done in one day!
As someone who had previously been to the D-Day beaches of Normandy on a private (smaller group) tour some years ago and found myself on another trip with family this time, I was not expecting this larger group tour to exceed the previous experience. John our guide almost immediately put those concerns to rest. Before we even arrived to the locations, he had already set the stage for WW2 with some fantastic background and commentary leading to stops at the American Cemetery and the beaches of Normandy. Not just satisfied with showing us the locations themselves, John’s commentary brought these places to life with great energy and knowledge at each stop that gave me a new appreciation for this incredibly powerful place, while also giving us free time and space to enjoy and reflect on what took place here on our own. From the American cemetery to the invasion beaches, to the Utah museum, it was an unforgettable experience and I would recommend the City Wonders trip to anyone who is interested in this important part of history and does not have multiple days to spend in this region. John was flexible and accommodating to everyone on the tour as we moved from place to place on a well-timed schedule. Despite just being a day trip from Paris, I felt like we were able to maximize the experience and couldn’t have done that without the guidance of John. Great Trip!

Informative and memorable.
Our guide John was very knowledgable. He provided a comprehensive pretext about the war, individual battles and, referenced books/movies for additional insight. We were also given some free time to explore on our own at each site. We enjoyed the tour and recommend it for anyone, including people with good historical knowledge.

You can trust City Wonders Tours to do it right
When you plan a vacation and decide on a location, especially if you have not been a frequent traveller, selecting a company for local tours is not the easiest thing to do. There are a lot of them out there. Three months before my trip to Rome, I began looking to see what tours were available. A breakfast at the Vatican tour seemed interesting. It was offered by City Wonders, a tour group, frankly, that was not known to me. I did some checking, they seemed dependable with good reviews, the price seemed right, so I booked the tour for early April. It was a seamless process. A numbered voucher was emailed to me immediately, and I could cancel my tour up to twenty-four hours before it started. I was so pleased with the process that I booked a Roman Colosseum, Palatine Hill and Roman Forum tour, as well as a half day excursion to Ostia Antica. I am so glad that I booked these tours with City Wonders. The instructions as to where to meet were flawless as was the check-in. The tours started on time. Best of all were the tour guides. Marina for the Vatican, Scott for the Colosseum and Catarina for Ostia Antica. All were experienced, very personable, highly skilled and knowledgeable, and each one shared a great deal of pertinent and remarkably interesting information at every opportunity. All their comments were put in context, and they made the sites I was visiting come alive. I couldn’t have been more pleased. I would book a tour with City Wonders again, and I have no hesitancy in giving them my highest recommendation. Five big stars from Canada.

Highly informative tour of the Colosseum and Roman Forum
I do not know which Roman God oversees the giving of tours, but he made an excellent choice when Scott showed up to be our tour guide. Scott has been giving tours of the Colosseum, Palatine Hill and Roman Forum for over four years. My wife and I took this City Wonders tour on Monday, 7 April 2025. Scott told us that he would give us more information than any other tour guide. That was no idle boast. He was full of information, and it was interesting, informative, humourous at times, and always relevant to what we were looking at. Everything we saw was put into its historical context, and he made the past come alive. Scott really knows his stuff. He was able to skillfully guide us through the large crowds that were on site that day, and he manoeuvred us from one strategic vantage point to another. He was aware that many of us were trying to take photographs, and he tried to give us every opportunity to take pictures without disrupting the flow of the tour. I came away satisfied with what I learned and saw, but Scott’s commentary made me want to go out and learn even more. That’s what a good teacher and what a good tour guide does. Scott loves what he does, and it shows. He was even conducting a second tour later that day. This was a wonderful tour that gets my highest recommendation. Five big stars from Canada.

The museum is CROWDED. The exhibits amaze, if you can get through the masses. Having pre-paid tickets and a guide is well worth it.

This trip was terrific...
This trip was terrific from beginning to end. Eduardo was fantastic throughout. He was knowledgeable, funny and patient. We had another great guide in Francesco for Pompeii. We had a long day due too unexpected traffic but it was worth it. I highly recommend.
