Sampling Tokyo’s delights
A nice sampler of some of the tastes and flavours of Tokyo thru the lens of just a few of the unique city neighbourhoods. A small insight into the cultural nuances of each area with a tasting of sake , crafted cocktails and Japanese wine and local snacks and delicacies . Glenda our guide was lovely and a lot of fun!

Street food in Osaka
Tonight we had a street food tour of Dotonbori. This is the classic neon light, street food and entertainment area. Our guide Sebastian an English speaking fun, warm, and informative guide who introduced us to friendly and foodie spots off the beaten track while helping us understand Osaka through it’s history. . We started out with the octopus balls, better than you could imagine with different sauces followed by breadcrumb everything-pork, shishitos, shiitake, beef, cheese, ginger, then onto stay a while bar where you drink & eat. We had a little of all the rest of Osaka’s specialties , special delicious noodles, dumplings, sliced pork in an omelette, plus tuna rolls, edamame and sake runneth over. Of course we finished with desert a fruit rice ball. Excellent food intro to Osaka. Thank you

Foodie tour
Natsumi, was a wonderful tour guide. When we arrived it was just the two of us and got a private tour to our selves. We had a wonderful time together and left with full stomachs. I would definitely recommend a food tour on the day of your arrival to get a taste of what you like or don't like.

Wonderful start to my first trip to Tokyo & Japan!
Had a wonderful time on my first all-too-short trip to Japan and took two of Arigato’s food tours while in Tokyo. On my first night, I met up with our guide Ethan (also originally from Colorado!) and two others at Shimbashi Station, where we started our tour by learning about the history of the area. On the way to our first food stop, we detoured to a local shine & got to make an offering. (Thanks for teaching us the proper etiquette!) Over the next 3 hours we traveled small alleys to our food stops: a time-limited all-you-can-drink wine bar with flamed Wagyu & corn fritters; a sake bar; a place with skewers of veggies & seafood; another with shrimp-based ramen (you can order half noodles if you’re too full), then a taiyaki filled with sweet red bean for dessert on the street. Ethan warned us ahead of time, but it was still hard not to overindulge…you’ll definitely want to pace yourselves! (The shrine visit & taiyaki were unexpected bonuses as I planned both for later days.) It was a great way to end my first day in Tokyo / Japan!

Wild time sightseeing in the Gold Gai!
Had a wonderful time on my first all-too-short trip to Japan and took two of Arigato’s food tours while in Tokyo. On my first night in Shinjuku, I met up with our guide Glenda and another couple at the Tajimaya Coffee House. We started our tour by learning about the history of the area, beginning with nearby “Memory Lane” alley. The number of tiny bars & izakayas crammed in such a small area was amazing and it was quite the experience to walk through some of them. You should read the many posted signs (“You can eat Bear!”???) & look into the range of themed bars, even if you don’t go inside! We started with several food stops for a range of tasty traditional izakaya food, such as skewers, veggies, grilled seafood, sashimi & drinks, then we wrapped up the food with ramen (you can order half noodles if you’re too full) and were quite stuffed when we were done! By this time, Shinjuku crowds were growing fast & neon signs were lit up everywhere. Beware the crowds! (Glenda kept track of us though so we wouldn’t get separated.) Our tour ran long (happily so) and we finished with drinks at Bar Araku, where we got to experience one of the many small, local & friendly upstairs bars. Glenda warned us ahead of time, but it was still hard not to overindulge…you’ll definitely want to pace yourselves! And thankfully she also helped get us back to the nearby train station before saying goodbye.

Good guide with bad selection of places
The guide Melissa was very nice and knew a lot, The problem is the quality of places that we visited. If you want to show several kinds of foods you could have selected more inviting places. The Sushi place was good, from there it only deteriorated. The ramen place was not really inviting, the Izakaya was bad....

Historical Shibuya
We enjoyed our tour of Retro Shibuya. Our guide was knowledgeable about the history of the area we visited. Seeing how some of the history is preserved in the food and design of the area gives you an appreciation of the culture. We especially enjoyed walking the historic hidden alleyways.

Quality tour
We tried three great restaurants and were very full by the end! We explored the neighborhood and got great background information. Our tour guide Daniel was great, and he also gave us tips for where to do Karaoke.

A locals food guide to Hiroshima
My husband & I ust finished a food tour and a great one at that. Ryan from Arigato gozaimasu was not only passionate about the food of Hiroshima and has found some special off the touristy track experts to share their specialties, he was an interesting person to share 3 hours with. He went the extra mile to teach us about the areas foods, introduce us to the small craft beer scene, educate us on the different sakes and their food pairings, help us pick out some unique snack food for later, then brought us for an amazing local Okonomiyaki experience topped off with desert of course. It’s the food tour you hope for and that AI will never replace!

food the local Japanese enjoy!
Our day trip with Myuka was amazing - away from crowds and in the Old town of Osaka. Seeing local areas and experiencing where the locals eat and buy their produce was memorable. The food and restaurants were very different to our other Japanese experiences which we loved. We loved the 85 yr old still making special pancakes.

What a great tour around Shibuya.
Wesley did a fab job showing us the more traditional food scene. It’s quite a compact tour so you don’t walk too far . Which means you spend more time learning about the area and eating, or drinking. We liked that. The Ramen stop was particularly good and we ended up the night in a very traditional bar about the size on my garden shed ! Excellent .

Sake and Shrine Tour
We had a fabulous guide in Atsuko. She was the best!! Since it was just my husband and I she tailored the experience around what we wanted to see and do. She took us to a very non touristy yakitori restaurant for lunch which was fabulous. We really wanted to see the Fushimi Inari shrine so she changed our itinerary and took us there. It was great having her with us as it would have been somewhat difficult to navigate on our own. In addition to her extensive knowledge about the sake, the food and the shrine, Atsuko was a very warm, friendly person who spoke excellent English. We would love to tour with her again.
