Beautiful sites and fun times
What a fun adventure! I had the time of my life seeing all sorts of ruins, and learning so many new things! We had just the most amazing guide at Coba - I can't think of any other way to spend your birthday - what a wonder

BEWARE TRAVELERS, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR‼️
If you are looking for a smooth, well-organized, and high-quality excursion in Tulum, this is not it.! Let’s start from the top. We were told to meet at Super Aki at 11 AM for pickup. We arrived early at 10:45 AM and messaged the company to let them know we were in position, ready to go. No response. The driver didn’t show up until 11:20 or 11:25, over 20 minutes late. No apology and no explanation. He just checked our names off a list & had us sit in the van for another 10 minutes waiting for another group. No communication and no updates.! Once everyone was on board, we started driving. About 15 minutes in, we turned onto a long rocky dirt road full of deep holes. These were not just potholes. The entire road was uneven, making the driver slow down to a crawl. This took 20 minutes to get through, making the entire transportation process frustrating and exhausting before we even started the excursion.! ATV EXPERIENCE – A JOKE I have done ATVs before and this was the most disappointing experience ever. We were simply riding in a straight line on the same bumpy hole-filled dirt road dodging traffic because only one vehicle could pass at a time. There was no real course and no adventure. It was just a boring ride full of stop & go traffic. The ride lasted maybe 20 to 25 minutes, mostly spent waiting for slower riders or moving aside for oncoming cars. If you were hoping for an adrenaline rush, or anything remotely close to fun…you will not find it here.! ZIPLINING – A MIX OF OKAY AND UNSAFE The first zipline is into water and has a 220-pound weight limit for good reason. If you are over that limit, you will hit concrete. Our entire group was hesitant, so we skipped it. The rest of the ziplines were okay. A couple were fast and fun, but overall nothing special. The real issue was they were doing construction on the zipline tower while we were using it. How do you expect guests to feel safe when workers are hammering and welding right next to us.? The highest zipline was also a letdown. Instead of flying through the air, you glide slowly, so if you were expecting an intense ride, do not get your hopes up. Instead take your phone out and snap videos and pics.. lesson learned.! CENOTES – DARK, UNAPPEALING, AND SKIPPABLE I have seen some beautiful cenotes in Tulum but this was not one of them. It is inside a pitch-black cave with no lights, making the water look more like swamp water than a natural wonder. No one in our group wanted to go in. It just did not look clean or appealing at all. If you wanna swim in dirty mop water be my guest. For us, NO THANK YOU.! MAYAN CEREMONY – A SCRIPTED SALES PITCH The Mayan ceremony was just a formality to push sales. The moment it ended, they started aggressively pushing products in the name of helping the Mayan people. I get it but it was just too forced, we didn’t purchase anything.! FOOD WAS UNAPPETIZING AND FULL OF BUGS The food was basic & so forgettable. Especially when the city has better tasting food. Nobody wanted seconds & that says a lot. Worse, there were bugs in our sauces which they replaced but still. It was not enjoyable & if you are looking forward to the included lunch, just eat before or after the excursion. CONSTANT REQUESTS FOR TIPS AND HARASSMENT Everywhere we turned, they were hounding us for tips. I understand tipping for great service but not when the service is subpar at best. One of the women in our group was even harassed by staff. She was repeatedly asked if she was single and if she was Mexican. Then at the end of the trip, one of them had the nerve to ask for tips to take care of his wife and kids. It was unprofessional and uncomfortable. There is also a photographer following you around all day snapping pics of you and your group. Then during lunch, he comes around trying to sell you all the photos for $20 USD per person which is crazy. Some of the pictures were decent but most were useless. And for whatever reason, this man was out here taking pictures from between people’s legs. Like what was that about? Just weird. Definitely not worth it.! THE RIDE BACK - A BUMPY NIGHTMARE After all that, we had to sit through another 20-minute ride down that same rocky dirt road, bouncing around like a damn ragdoll. To make it worse, the driver took his sweet time getting back while we sat in that oven-baked van waiting. Meanwhile, he was off somewhere stuffing his face, licking his fingers before finally deciding to get in and drive us back.! FINAL VERDICT: NOT WORTH IT Would I do this again? Absolutely not. I get it. You pay for what you get and now I fully understand why the price was low. If you can afford a higher-quality excursion, do it. This one was disorganized, uncomfortable, and felt like a cash grab. Save your money. Find a better tour.!

We signed up for a tour that focused on visiting a Mayan ruin, Coba, as it worked with the schedule we had. Unbeknownst to us, we were part of a larger day that other participants had signed up for. Most of our time was spent being shuttled around (on a bumpy road into the jungle for a very light meal and then waited for 1 hr. to continue the adventure) which left us with little time to visit Coba. We got there with only 45 minutes free time - not enough for walking to and back again from the observatory, never mind all the ruins along the way. Disappointing to spend 7 hours of a day for 1.25 hours at the site. On a positive note, the tour guide and all involved with the group were good. Timing and organization of these tours needs to improve.

We got taxis to the beach and they waited for us, it’s really too boggy to walk there at the minute. You do have to put your hands in or kick up the water to see anything but it was cool when you do! Put a shadow on the water to see better.

Tulum and Coba with Cenote and “Aldea Maya” -disappointing and wonderful. Maya Adrenaline combines different tours into the same transportation and groups are divided at each step. Remove your belongings from the van at each step until Coba. Lockers available at the Tulum site. Take or wear your swimsuit, bring a change of clothes -long ride from the cenote to Cobá. VERY limited time to change after the cenote Tulum Ruins Site: plaza with kiosks all with and a large store -including bathrooms. What we were not given (as we had on both tours we’d taken in previous days) were bottles of water or even told to drink up, so when we started I asked about drinking water. I was told I should have gotten it at the store. Nacho was the English speaking guide. It was hot, little shade and the first trolley was full, so Nacho decided we could walk. He walked at a very fast pace which not ok for everyone and started talking before all were gathered. We stopped at several significant sites and got some history but then we were allowed free time which gave us time to explore on our own. Regrouped into various vans and then drove over bumpy roads for a basic lunch. Nothing special. After lunch we regrouped again to ride a few more kilometers to the cenote. I will say here that I don’t know whether it was time constraints for those who were continuing to other activities or not but at this point things became very rushed. The lockers are small and several people took more than one so some of us had to go to another area to use those lockers. We had to get life vests, change and lock up but my husband did not have time to remove his hearing aids and the guide pushed us to leave so he skipped the cenote. This cenote was quite nice though there was no lighting as there had been in several others we visited. We were given flashlights but our guide’s batteries were dead so he took mine because I had my phone. I did not get the name of the cenote but it was large with a number of really nice formations. Afterwards, we quickly changed and were on our way back to the lunch stop where, once again, we changed the group. One couple had stayed and another had joined so we ended up only being 6 in the group which was the first good thing about this portion. We drove back down the long rutted road and then another ½ -¾ hour to Cobá. There we had an EXCELLENT guide, Nico who is not only a teacher of the Maya language but full of history and interesting information about Mayan language, Cobá and all delivered with excellent English (his 3rd language) and insight. After the guided part of the tour at the area called the Church, he directed us to the tricycles where for $mx180 we could hire a guide to “drive” us (2 people sit on a bench on the front of a bike driven by the guide to the main temple, Temple of Nonoch wich is the tallest in the Yucatan. We passed a number of buildings on the way which we stopped at on our return including the larger of the 2 ball courts at Cobá. Our last stop was at a delightful Aldea Maya (Mayan village) called Yuum Kin where we were first experienced a blessing by a shaman then were treated to fresh tortillas with delicious filings of scrambled eggs with chaya ( somewhat like spinach) and a pumpkin seed tomato sauce paste that was delicious. There is a small shop there as well. This portion of the trip was made excellent by Nico’s passion for sharing his culture and knowledge. Everyone has bad days so I do not want to say that Nacho is a bad guide. But, since we did 4 different tours with 4 different outfits we saw how attentive and considerate some guides are. He clearly has experience but we felt rushed and confused by the inclusion of so many different groups until we got to Coba and left feeling that we would have preferred a trip that was limited to Tulum Ruins, Cobá and the Aldea Maya with perhaps a cenote stop between Tulum and Cobá with lunch or simply the opportunity to eat at Cobá. Even with all the rushing we arrived back in Tulum 2 hours after our scheduled time.

Disappointing vs Wonderful-it was both
Our tour , "Tulum and Coba with Cenote and “Aldea Maya” "was both disappointing and wonderful. A few notes: Although your pick up will likely have you on a bus with a group of people not all of them will necessarily be taking the same tour. Maya Adrenaline seems to combine different tours into the same transportation and groups are divided at each step. You will need to remove your belongings from the van at each step until Cobá. There are lockers available at the Tulum site. On this tour, since a cenote is included it is necessary to take or wear your swimsuit, however you should bring a change of clothes as there is a long ride from the cenote to Cobá. There was VERY limited time to change after the cenote so be aware of that. The tour: Tulum Ruins Portion From our pick up point we were taken to the entrance of the Tulum Ruins Site which is a plaza with a plethora of kiosks all with people hawking their goods and a large store with everything a tourist might need-including bathrooms. What we were not given (as we had on both tours we’d taken in previous days) were bottles of water or even told to drink up, so when we started I asked about drinking water. I was told I should have gotten it at the store. There seemed to be several van loads of people and we were divided into English speaking and Spanish speaking. Nacho was the English speaking guide. The day was hot, there was little shade and because the trolleys that transport visitors to pick up points were full, Nacho decided we could walk. Since I really needed to drink some water he stopped at a small kiosk along the way where I bought water in a can (he seemed to think this might be unacceptable to me but potable water is potable water) He walked at a very fast pace. Not only were there 2 families with young children but my husband was having trouble keeping up as well and he would start his lecture before everyone was gathered. We did stop at several significant sites and got some history but then we were allowed free time which gave us time to explore on our own. We chose to ride the trolley back to the exit and skipped walking around too much but I think that we might have gotten more out of it had we been able to visit a few more of the structures. Lunch and cenote portion: We regrouped into various vans and then drove for a number of kilometers over bumpy roads (“they call it getting a “Mayan Massage”) for lunch. Groups who were going on the ATV tour or Zip Lines were also there. Our lunch was acceptable but nothing compared to the others we’d had with other tours. The waitstaff was all very nice however and helpful. After lunch we regrouped again to ride a few more kilometers to the cenote. I will say here that I don’t know whether it was time constraints for those who were continuing to other activities or not but at this point things became very rushed. The lockers are small and several people took more than one so some of us had to go to another area to use those lockers. (Translated by Google) If you went there by bike, you wouldn't do it again, it's dangerous, the way back is great because the bike path has much more space there. The cenote is very beautiful and the turtles are cute. Were there at 10 a.m. and there wasn't much going on. You have to take a cold shower beforehand, but you found this amusing. For the expensive entrance fee of 500 pesos, the park is pretty carelessly designed. You could get so much more out of this place, but the owners are probably just out for money. Nevertheless, the cenote itself was very beautiful.

We visited the bioluminescent beach in Holbox in early March and were lucky to have a no-moon night, making the experience even more stunning! The bioluminescence was clearly visible as soon as we walked or swam through the water, creating beautiful sparkles and glowing trails around every movement. Our tour guide was excellent, first giving us a great explanation of the stars visible from the beach and even taking some amazing still photos of us. A good thing to know: you won’t be able to capture the bioluminescence with a regular phone camera, which is why you don’t see many photos of it in reviews. The journey to the beach was a bit long and tricky, with several water ponds on the road. I definitely wouldn’t recommend walking there at night, but going by transportation was a fun adventure. Of course, there were many other people from different tours, but there was plenty of space for everyone to enjoy the experience. Tip: If you want to see this phenomenon at its best, make sure to check the time of year and moon phase—a no-moon night makes all the difference! Highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting Holbox!
