Sorrento & Pompeii Day Trip

Great adventure and perfect guides. Just note, if you get car sick easily, then you may want to avoid...very curvy roads

We booked a private tour while on the Norwegian Gem in July 2026 through World Tours. Our driver, Antonio Carola was prompt and on time when he met us at the port. Antonio picked us up from Salerno and drove us up the Amalfi Coast which included multiple stops on the way for many photo opportunities. We even visited a Limoncello factory and were able to taste samples. We stopped in Sorrento for lunch and to shop in this beautiful Italian town. Antonio was very informative about every town we drove through. He was polite, professional, and we never felt rushed on the tour. We ended the tour at Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius where we met Theresa who walked us through the ancient piazzas of the city. She was amazing with her knowledge that she shared with us. Both Antonio and Theresa acted like part of the family!! Definitely book this tour because it’s an experience you will hold onto for a lifetime!! Thank you Antonio and Theresa for such an amazing last day in Italy.

The duration was advertised as 6 hours but it lasted nearly 9 hours. We were given 1.5 hours of free time in Sorrento, which felt like far too much. We walked a few blocks to the coastline, admired it and took some photos, and walked back. We found a restaurant and ordered coffees just to kill time. If you don't mind extremely crowded sidewalks and you like shopping, Sorrento is probably more enjoyable for you. "Visit a Limoncello distillery" = We walked through the distillery where no equipment was being operated, and then entered a large gift shop. They were giving free samples, which was effective because we ended up buying a bottle. When we arrived in Pompeii, we did a lot of standing around and waiting. We had to swap a few people from our group with a few from another group, because ships were leaving at different times. We were told to "explore" before the tour, but there wasn't much in that area besides souvenir shops and tourist-focused food vendors. We would've rather spent that extra time exploring the ruins. When we did finally start that tour, it was fantastic. Highly recommend! Overall, we felt like there was too much wasted time and we wish we would've selected a tour that only included Pompeii.

There is a lot of driving and traffic included in this tour, but you get to spend quality time in Sorrento and plenty of time in Pompeii. Pompeii is huge and you won’t get to see all of it, but you get a great overview. The lunch included was not that great, but it keeps you together with your group for the tour to begin.

This was an excellent day. Our tour with World Tours was amazing. Our guide Luca was excellent, great communication, patient with us and professional. He provided an awesome guide, Anna for our tour of Pompeii.. We would highly recommend World Tours when visiting Salerno, Pompeii and Sorrento Italy. They are the best!!!
