About this activity

Walk from a 13th-century monastery to a storied Art Nouveau café, tasting Czech pastries, open-faced sandwiches, traditional dishes, and craft beer along the way. Small group, big flavors.

Highlights

  • Sample Czech pastries fresh from the oven at a family-run gingerbread bakery with generations of tradition behind every bite
  • Sit in the café where Kafka and Einstein once ordered, and eat svíčková exactly as it was meant to be served
  • Visit the Convent of St. Agnes, Prague's first Gothic building, set inside a quiet 13th-century monastery courtyard
  • Wander the hidden Old Town alleys that most visitors never find, right in the heart of an otherwise well-trodden neighborhood
  • Toast the end of the tour with a cold Czech craft beer from one of more than 600 microbreweries across the Czech Republic

Full description

This 3.5-hour small-group walking tour moves through the Old Town's Gothic alleys and into New Town's elegant boulevards with a local expert guide.

You'll visit five carefully chosen stops along the way, each one a different window into Czech food culture. Start inside a medieval monastery courtyard with marinated cheese and a cold Czech beer. Pick through fresh pastries at a family-run gingerbread bakery that's been going for generations. Work through classic open-faced sandwiches loaded with Prague ham at a Czech-Slovak deli, then pause for a warm koláč at one of the city's most celebrated artisan bakeries.

The finale is Café Louvre, an Art Nouveau institution open since 1902, where a traditional dish comes with bread dumplings, and the apple strudel arrives with proper vanilla custard.

Eight food tastings, two drinks, a maximum of 12 per group.

Jordana was lovely and very knowledgeable. Notting Hill is a great area but it would’ve been overwhelming to do this on our own. Exploring Notting Hill via this tour made it enjoyable and easy, and of course quite delicious!
