Be prepared to sit and wait a lot
I hate to leave a negative review but this was not worth the money! Almost $100 a person felt crazy after we went. We spent over an hour waiting to pick up and drop off other guests. The drive there was super slow and was supposed to take up time so we could enter at 9am when they opened. Got there around 8:45 and ended up waiting until past 9:30 before anyone told us what was going on. Then we got to see the monkeys which was AWESOME! but the shortest part of the whole excursion :(. After that we went and sat another half hour while everyone looked through their photos. We then went down for the demonstrations at the “typical house” that felt more like a tourist trap than anything. At one point they put coconut oil on our arms without clearly explaining it had almond oil in it which my husband is severely allergic to. We sat there for a very long time in the heat and it was definitely hard for the kids to sit still and quietly through. After that we headed back to our hotel. Throughout the 45 minuteish drive the driver continually asked for everyone to leave a review, passed around an ipad for reviews, and a qr code along with a long spiel about how important it is. He even went as far to talk about living conditions and how we are so lucky in the hotels and the least we can do is leave a review and tip. After leaving I continued to receive messages about leaving a review, which ultimately led me to leaving this one. This excursion unfortunately did not feel worth the money and left a lot to be desired. We sat for probably 3/4ths of the whole thing while they just talked. Overall we felt like there was a lack of communication of what was happening throughout the day. I hate to leave a negative review but wish I would have read one like this before booking!

Excellent experience, highly recommend. Jose our driver on bus B38, he was an excellent tour guide very knowledgeable about the DR and a good singer. The monkeys were great everyone will enjoy it.
