Houston Buffalo Bayou Kayak and Paddleboard Rentals

We didn’t catch the name of the gentleman who helped us, but he was incredibly kind and welcoming. The kayaks and equipment were already set up right by the water, so the process was quick and easy—we were able to arrive and head straight out. He made sure each of us got safely in and out of the water and shared helpful suggestions on where to paddle and explore. We chose a standard equipment rental this time, but they also offer guided tours. We’re already planning to come back for the skyline and bat tours next time. Highly recommend!

The water look and smell like sewage. And we had an issue with booking through the Viator site and the company did not refund my money.

We did have a fun experience. Kids enjoyed rowing and racing with the parents. Did have to dodge the debris in the water…..empty soda bottles and take out containers litter the waters throughout. The fellow who launched us was super nice. We had a good time navigating the bayou. We made the mistake of leaving our coats with the guy who launched us. When he went about his routine business our coats were taken by someone. The fellow was super apologetic. He called the manager and manager mentioned that we should note the fine print about whose responsibility our belongings are. We should’ve known better and some of the homeless who call that area home get to sleep more warmly this winter.

We had a great trip! Our guide Josh was fun and very knowledgeable. He provided interesting info along the trip. I will say it was a little longer of a paddle than I thought it would be- definitely recommend a tandem kayak if you are a beginner. It was a peaceful paddle, especially on the way back in the dark. I would definitely recommend!

The kayak had no back support which made it uncomfortable for really effective paddling . I enjoyed the scenery of what I saw
