Memorable trip guided by Stephen and Sarah

The tour was by far the best bus tour we have ever been on. Stephen did an amazing job telling plenty relatable and extremely fascinating stories about Irish history and the landscape on the way to the Cliffs of Moher and Galway. He clearly has a talent for this! And, of course, thanks to our great driver Sarah!

Una and John Forever

This tour BLEW US AWAY! I can’t begin to express how impactful this tour was. Una was one of the best tour guides we’ve ever had. Her personal connection to the story, her candor, and her investment in sharing experiences and learning was unlike anything we’ve ever seen before. She went as far as to show us full slide shows to share the history of the North of Ireland and make sure we all felt prepared for this experience. DO THE BLACK CAB TOUR!!! Our cab driver was the kindest, most empathetic person I’ve had the privilege of meeting and I felt such a personal connection to him and his life. Dunluce Castle was out of this world and Giant’s Causeway was unlike anything we’ve ever seen. John, our bus driver, went out of his way to make us feel comfortable and cared for. Would do this tour again and again.

Loved Giant's Causeway, chose black taxi option in Belfast

Giant’s Causeway- Giant’s Causeway is a must see if you are in Northern Ireland and I loved exploring and experiencing the site. The site will likely be wet so be sure you are wearing proper gripping shoes to be able to climb up onto the rocks safely and keep your hands out of your pockets to catch yourself if you do fall. It’s about a 15 minutes walk down to the Causeway and I highly recommend walking down then paying the 1 pound fee to take the tram back up to maximize your time. The visitor center is 16 pounds to enter and includes bathrooms and the gift shop- yes you must pay 16 pounds to get the privilege of spending more pounds. The gift shop has lots of local artist items and some absolutely delicious chocolates, but the actual education portion of the visitor center was a huge let down. I was hoping to learn about how the Causeway was formed- both the myths and the science behind it. The education portion is aimed at entertaining children while parents shop versus giving any educational knowledge to adults. If you want a clean bathroom and some pretty gifts pay to go in, but otherwise save your money. Dublin- I chose to do the walking tour of Belfast and was disappointed. The guide was very nice but we walked about 1 block from the start point to a pub, then turned around and walked back to the start point. The guide did stop and tell us a history of Ireland and Belfast but it came across as a long history lesson of the country versus actual information about the city or culture in front of us. I talked to people who did the Black Taxi tour option instead and they said it was great so choose that option. Now, the actual tour- Pros- Our tour guide Una grew up in Belfast and has person experience of the tumult the city endured which added invaluable depth to the tour experience. A highlight of the tour was the videos that Una would put on throughout the day that covered the history of Belfast, the myths of the creation of Giant’s Causeway, and even some Irish music videos. Una also had a wonderful info binder she passed throughout the bus that well laid out helpful information not just for each site and the overall tour, but for Dublin as well. No other tour I took in Ireland had videos or the info binder and I really appreciated both. Collin was a wonderful driver, level headed, and really personable on the tour. He even delighted us with singing an Irish song to us when Una wasn’t able to get the song to play on the overhead bus screens. Cons- The bus was not the usual bus Una nor our driver Collin used and while the seats were comfortable, none of the microphones were working- not the handheld bus mic nor either headset mic. This meant every time Una tried to say anything the entire day long tour she had to stand up on the bus and yell it to the participants. Una had a very hard tour as out of 37 participants only 3 of us were native English speakers, a handful were dually versed language speakers, and the rest of the tour was using it as a taxi to get from location to location. Those not interested in the tour would play music and talk over Una which was detrimental to the tour experience but they refused requests from Una to stop. The language barrier and frustrations of the day lead to several yelling incidents throughout the day between Una and participants, one such incident over a woman standing to switch seats while the bus was moving even had Una ordering Collin to pull the bus over on the highway which he declined to do. Throughout the day we are repeatedly told we must stick to the tour timetable and if you are late you will have to be left so the rest of the tour can continue. One gentleman failed to head this warning and was left behind on his black taxi tour. He angrily confronted Una on our first rest stop on the way home and a verbal argument broke out. Collin was able to mediate the argument and resolve it so the man would be allowed to continue riding the bus back to Dublin, but it made for a very uncomfortable rest of the evening for those of us on the bus. A small issue leading to larger issue, I really think a lot of the frustrations of the day would have been avoided if the microphone equipment had worked allowing for a smoother tour throughout the day and less need for frustrating communication attempts.

Cool tour

We had a nice time on the tour. Though, it was a bit crowded and overwhelming. To be fair, it was our first large group tour and didn't know what to expect. Beautiful drive and locations. The terrain at the Cliffs can be a bit challenging for some to walk.

If you’re looking for an easy, but informativ and funny way to see the cliffs and a little bit of Ireland’s beautiful nature, I can absolutely recommend that tour. Galway is also super cute and definitely worth it. Thanks to Marvin & Matt!
