La mejor muestra de arte que he visto en mi vida. Una experiencia impagable.
Voy a dar consejos útiles para quien desee tener una grata experiencia en esta increíble muestra: primero que todo, si se desea admirar las obras sin tumultos y tomar fotos sin tener que pedir que la gente se haga a un lado, conviene reservar en la última hora del día. Yo así lo hice (a las 21:00 horas del día viernes 21 de marzo). De inmediato me fui a la última sala de exhibición (son el total cuatro salas), esperé 15 minutos allí y regresé a la primera sala, la cual estaba prácticamente vacía, puesto que el resto de visitantes había ya avanzado hacia la segunda sala, además que ya no se llenaría con público recién llegado cada 20 minutos, justamente por ser la última hora vendida aquel día (según mi humilde opinión, la muestra debería haber vendido tickets cada 45 minutos –y no cada 20 minutos-, pues Caravaggio no es cualquier pintor, y sus obras -24 en este caso- merecen ser admiradas sin tumultos, teniendo en cuanta además que las salas de exhibición no son amplias). En segundo término, para evitar bochornos, hay dos pinturas que no se pueden fotografiar: “Ecce Homo” y “El prendimiento de Cristo”, en la tercera sala. La señalética que dice que ello está prohibido es demasiado pequeña, y uno no se da cuenta. Me sucedió a mí, pues un guardia me tuvo que indicar que bajara el celular, lo que por supuesto no es muy agradable para el visitante, por dar la impresión de querer pasar por alto la normativa. No podía dejar de comentar un suceso no muy agradable que me sucedió en mi visita a la muestra que hice junto a mi esposa. Nosotros somos de Chile, y en mi país, antes de viajar a Roma (fuimos expresamente a ver dicha muestra), vi en la prensa internacional que al parecer quien acudiera a la exposición, tendría seguramente la posibilidad de entrar al lugar donde se encuentra el único fresco que pintó Caravaggio en su vida, en el Casino Ludovisi, en Roma. Pues bien, una vez ya en la muestra, para salir de la duda, le hice la consulta a una guardia que vigilaba una de la salas, ante lo cual me contestó que eso era efectivo. Me aseguró que con el ticket se tenía derecho a eso. Por lo tanto, una vez que salimos del Palacio Barberini, con mi esposa caminamos alegre y entusiasmadamente hacia el Casino Ludovisi, pero fue una frustración llegar a aquel lugar y ver que todo estaba cerrado. Otro hecho incómodo fue que yo deseaba llevarme el libro guía de la muestra Caravaggio 2025 que se vendía en la tienda al final del recorrido, pero solo tenían la versión en italiano, idioma que no domino. Desconozco por qué no estaba en ese momento la edición en inglés (idioma más asequible para el visitante extranjero), por lo cual me fui sin adquirir el mencionado libro guía. Ahora bien, para terminar, no se puede dejar de dar las gracias a quienes tuvieron la excelente idea de montar esta notable muestra, en la cual es posible apreciar – en aproximadamente una hora- la evolución pictórica del más grande pintor de claroscuros de todos los tiempos. Con mi esposa hicimos en total tres visitas a esta muestra, en un lapso de una semana. Cruzamos el océano Atlántico exclusivamente para deleitarnos con tamaña exposición, y no nos equivocamos.

I wish they would not have waited on late people
Our tour guide was very kind. However, we started almost 40 minutes late because they wanted to wait for some people that were missing. Well I understand that is a very generous thing to do, that just took into the rest of us that were on time. I felt very rushed, and there were many rooms that we walked through and she didn’t even tell us what they were. We didn’t have too many times to stop and take pictures. Some of those were not her fault as they make you just keep walking because the crowds are so big and I understand that. After the Vatican museums, we were supposed to have a tour of the Basilica, and she felt rushed to hand in our headphones so that also was a little chaotic. Some of our group decided to go on their own and she did eventually walk us down there to the entrance, but she seemed to have a hard time and she did not seem like she wanted to. I’m glad she did because even with her directions, I would’ve never found the correct line to skip everybody. there was a lot going on because this is the day that the pope was chosen so I do understand and had patience for what was going on. But throughout the process, we had 45 less minutes inside all of the museums because of people that did not show up. I understand 10 minutes 45 minutes is a little bit much. Again, she was very knowledgeable and kind but I don’t think we should’ve had to wait for other people.

Excellent tour and tour guide
Our guide was knowledgeable and entertaining. I would recommend him and this tour for anyone wanting to cover the Forum and Colosseum in one tour.

Spectacular Vatican Tour
We had a private 2 person tour and our guide was absolutely wonderful. Fredrick was so knowledgeable and really gave us a new prospective based on the time in which each pope lived. The art was essential to understand the times. Even though we were unable to see the Sistine chapel due to the Conclave our 5 hour tour was spectacular! We highly recommend!

Wonderful Tour Guide
Phenomenal experience. Our tour guide was a Art Historian who has lived in Rome for the last two decades and she was incredibly knowledgeable about the art, artist, and subject matter. It was an easy and straightforward process and the tour group itself was small, which was ideal. Overall wonderful experience and one that would have been difficult to do otherwise (totally sold out)!

Tour was well organized and guide was patient. Too bad we were unable to view the Sistene chapel due to impending Conclave. They assured us we would get a refund for that part of the tour. Highly recommended.

Wow we visited at an extremely busy time after the passing of the Pope and before the conclave, however our guide was amazing, she navigated us through thousands of people but showed us the most astounding parts that were hard to get to, the same with St Peter’s Basilica, we did not think we would get in but again she managed to get us through the long queues and her wealth of history knowledge was amazing Thanks we will highly recommend this to anyone

Good tour, could use more information
The archeological site is amazing, and I enjoyed the tour. Guests should take a jacket or sweater--it's cold underground! Our guide was efficient and friendly, but I wish there was more historical context for the golden palace. How was it funded, did the citizens hate Nero because of his extravagant lifestyle, where did the materials come from, and so on. The guide told us one comment Nero made that showed his poor character--would have liked more of what others of his time thought, as well. The video re-creation really helped to visualize the palace.

The Vatican Museum and of course the Sistine Chapel are wonders to behold. Our guide was knowledgeable but did a poor job of setting expectations. 1.5 hours of our 3 hour tour was spent getting through the entry point and then standing in the yard outside the Museum and talking about it.

Tour guide Eugenia D’Andrea provided an exceptional experience for us to tour the Vatican. The participants met at an easy to find location. The tour began on time. All the logistics were handled expeditiously. The guide offered exceptional insights. The Vatican was “heavenly” in its prized possessions and confiscated treasures. The affluence of Catholics is on great display. One can imagine Jesus throwing these pompous Popes, cardinals, priests out of their places of worship for not behaving as He has instructed us. The reason for the 4 star rating has nothing to do with neither the guide nor the tour company, but because the Vatican makes money off of their treasures on earth and crams people through as fast as possible to the point that paid customers are not able to slow down and contemplate what is on display. There is a strict timetable to adhere to and one can feel like a cattle being pushed through a chute on a drive to the corral. Very impersonal for something that you have spent a lot of money for.

Amazing experience twice with TE at both the Vatican and the Colosseum/Forum on separate tours/days/guides in July at the peak of ravenous tourist horde season. The experience with them made each location perfect. Punctual, personable, funny, incredibly knowledgeable, and tailored to the things you’re most interested in. I cannot recommend them enough for their excellence in a city filled with sub-par options, no reason to go with others, just TE. As for the haters on these reviews, some couldn’t even spell colosseum correctly, so take their misplaced fury with a mountain of salt.
