Valentina was an amazing guide, very knowledgeable providing a great deal of meaningful detail on the mosaics of the Basilica. She was also very accommodating and considerate as my husband cannot stand for long periods of time. This after hours tour provided a profound impression on my husband who visited the Basilica for the first time, when the lights were turned on! I would highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to experience the beauty of San Marco Basilica.

Even if you know, nothing about art, this tour will make you an art lover, and a Caravaggio lover. Our tour guide, Riccardo, was extraordinary wealth of information and knowledge for us. I Recommend this tour 100%.

Quality Experience

Our guide Giovanni was great! We spent about 30 min outside learning about exterior of the Basilica until we were allowed to enter for our 90-min tour. Loved that we could actually sit and look and learn about the church and the mosaics with very few people and no ropes around. The lighting was magical, and Giovanna was very informative. I love the Basilica and have visited Venice twice before, and I still learned things. The up-close, unhurried view and explanation of the Pala d’Oro was great, and the crypt was a special experience. If you dream of up close and personal time with the Basilica, book this tour. It also engaged my 17-year-old daughter.

This was a perfect tour! Straight from the airport we had a private transfer bring us right to Claudia at the entrance to the Vatican. We never could have navigated the crowds and correct protocol to enter. Claudia was, by na nutshell, superb. Her English impeccable, her historical Highlights interesting and funny. The back stories made it so fun. She found shade at every turn and we left with her recommendations for taxi vs walking back to hotel. I strongly recommend this tour group and specifically Claudia. 😁

Our tour of the Vatican was truly unforgettable, thanks to our amazing guide. He was not only incredibly knowledgeable about the art, history, and architecture, but also brought everything to life with a great sense of humor and engaging storytelling. Navigating the Vatican Museums can be overwhelming due to the crowds, but his expertise and experience made the whole process smooth and enjoyable. He knew exactly where to go and when, helping us avoid the busiest spots while still seeing all the highlights. We left the tour feeling enriched and inspired. Highly recommend this guide to anyone looking for a well-organized, insightful, and genuinely fun Vatican experience!

Valeria was an AMAZING guide. Her knowledge for each of the sites was beyond what we could ever expect. She took us into spaces that were not open to the general public and gave us in depth history. We felt like royalty the entire day. Highly recommend this tour!

Caravaggio 2025

Mostra molto interessante.

The best Colosseum Tour!

Excellent tour! We’ve been to Italy many times but had never booked a tour and after having experienced several tours in Rome, we can say with absolute certainty that this one was our BEST! Alessandro was the perfect guide! He never rushed us and was so knowledgeable. He was patient with our elderly mother in law and teens that wanted to stop and take pics or shop. Perfect and highly recommend!

Val's insight, guidance and passion for the venue was outstanding especially in the face of enormous crowds and the late change to the tour with the Basilica closed.

Enjoy the Basilica without crowds - you will love it.

Great experience at St Mark's in the evening! The gold shimmers as the light comes up and it was beautiful. Emanuel was a knowledgeable guide and we learned so many interesting things about this incredible building.

We were lucky enough to have Sara for our walking tour of the Colosseum, Roman forum and Palatine Hill. It was one of the best walking tours we've been on. We loved the small group size as it allowed us to chat and ask questions along the way. The pace was perfect and Sara was so knowledgeable about history and Roman architecture - we got plenty of opportunities to get fantastic photos. If visiting Rome we would definitely recommend this tour!

This tour is the best tour I have ever taken! Marle did an amazing job of guiding the group through the Barberini exhibit. Her knowledge and passion were evident from the start. I have done several tours from several companies. If Marle is representative of the company’s standard, I will use this company going forward. Thank for an unforgettable experience.

Horrible Tour Guide Maria L? on Jubilee Tour

Only tour in my life where we had to look up Wikipedia DURING the tour. My Italian friend recommended this agency because we are Catholic, coming for the Jubilee and wanted a religion-centered tour - Jubilee/Early Christianity. The other people on our tour were also devout Catholic. I believe the tour was done by Maria Lazara. We do not know her name because she did not bother to introduce herself, nor did she ask our names (aside from checking our family name off). We met at the statue and then without any introduction to our tour, nor introduction to the St John of Laterna Church, she marched off in front of us to the Church's portico. It was a bad start. That's the main complaint: she gave no introduction to the tour or any site, she gave no church or historic context on how things came to be or how they evolved. She gave no Catholic perspective. A tour guide needs to be a storyteller! And I expected a guide well-versed in church history, both religious and urban! Instead, it was a bunch of random historic facts. She primarily spent her time pointing out symbolism in the paintings and mosaics. Clearly, she majored in art history, and the history of Christianity was a boring sideline to her. She liked pointing out that Laterna was populated early, while most of Rome was countryside - but why? How did that change? Where did Catholics live and why did they move? Why were these churches chosen for their Holy Doors? Why only 4 doors? She told us the Laterna Holy Door was an original bronze and a couple more facts and then we marched through as it were nothing. Nothing about why it is special that they are open, how Catholics view this moment, etc. IT IS SPECIAL. In speaking about the Jubilee, the only thing she said was that the Pope first started it once every 100 years, and since the Roman townspeople made money on tourism from the incoming pilgrims, they moved it to every 33 years or when they wanted. That's it - Jubilees were about making tourism dollars. End of her story. None of our group of 3 heard that the Sacred Steps were brought from Jerusalem and why, and where they were placed originally. All she did was say "it is not a hard job to move stairs." THEY ARE SPECIAL. She just said: you can up if you want, I'll wait here on my phone. Again, her specialty seemed to be art history not Catholic traditions or history, and 75% of the time, she spoke about symbolism. The blue and yellow of Mary, the keys of St. Peter. That's fine but there was no narrative, no church history. The tour ended exactly at 12 p.m. Clearly, she was glad to be out of there. Another note - yes, her English vocabulary was good, but she spoke sing-song Italian style and it was hard to follow her. She does not have the cadence of an English speaker. Very disappointed in Eternity Tours' guide. Aside: I really enjoyed Eternity Tours newsletter mailings.

Best Rome in a day experience!

After researching a lot, we settled on a private tour of Rome with Through Eternity Tours. It was very easy to do the booking online, and because it was a private tour we could customize it a bit to meet our needs. It was not inexpensive but well worth it to see what we could in a day without having to worry about transportation, tickets, etc. Our guide for the day was Serena, a delightful and very knowledgeable guide. She was friendly and informative, and patient with us Americans. The morning portion was a golf-cart tour with Lorenzo as our driver (he was fabulous- he knew all the streets of Rome and could get us around so easily, especially in a golf cart!) We drove around for a bit to see the sights, then went to the Forum for a great walking tour. Serena was friendly with all the ticket takers, and could get us in easily and quickly. We had lunch with her at a nearby restaurant, then she called a driver to take us to the Vatican Museums. Since we only had a few hours, she was able to pick out the best pieces/rooms to see and highlight. Because the Conclave was going on, we did not get to see St. Peter's Square or Basilica unfortunately. I would highly recommend this tour company, and request Serena for your guide!

Expensive, but worth every penny. The Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and St. Peters Basilica would have been much more confusing and a lot less enjoyable without our guided tour. Erica was interesting and engaging. And the audio system was great. We arrived at 730, but there were already a ton of people. I would have booked even earlier if I had known. Amazing all around!!
