Rod’s adventures was hands down the most fun we had while visiting Fairbanks! We booked back to back time slots for dog sledding and snowmobiling. Our mushers were Steve and Luther, and both were very friendly and patient with our questions and picture requests. You can tell how much they love their dogs, introducing them all by name! And then Josh guided our snowmobiling ride. He made sure we were all comfortable on the machines since it was a first for us, and was also very kind … picture requests again lol … I mentioned when we were gearing up how much I wanted to see a moose and he was able to spot one in the woods and stopped to point him out to us! We were just overall very impressed with Rod’s ….. from the check in, to getting gear, to all 3 of our guides …. epic adventures and memories!! Thanks y’all!

As we arrived, the vast expanse of Chena Lake was awesome! We were greeted immediately by our guide, Noah, who was friendly, helpful and made our adventure lots of fun. Inside our heated cabin there was plenty of space for all of us to enjoy fishing for the next four hours. Our fishing poles were in the water quickly after we got settled. Almost immediately the fish started biting. Everyone in our cabin caught at least one fish, most caught many more. We caught salmon and rainbow trout. Two children caught fish also. Noah helped us bait and unhook the fish. First, we had reindeer hotdogs, which were excellent. A bit later Noah had cooked up our fish and we enjoyed tasting salmon and trout. Rod’s Alaskan Guide Services should be on your list to experience ice-fishing while in the Fairbanks area. Thank you, Noah for making our experience terrific.

A perfect way to view the Northern Lights!

Our fishing adventure was one of a kind! I would definitely recommend this tour. So professional and well planned out. The ice fishing cabin was very nice and much bigger than I expected. Went as a family of five. we all caught fish and had stunning views of the lights. We were provided with a snack of reindeer sausage and our guide even cooked up the fish we caught. Our guide was super knowledgable and had lots of interesting stories to share. It was fun to have an entertaining activity to do in a warm space while staying up to view the lights.

Unforgettable Ice Fishing Experience

Unforgettable Ice Fishing Experience! We had an incredible time on our ice fishing excursion with Trevor as our guide. He was extremely knowledgeable—not just about fishing, but also about Alaska and the local wildlife, which made the experience even more interesting and educational. Trevor cooked up some delicious reindeer sausage for us, and later prepared the fish we caught, offering a variety of seasonings so we could flavor them to our liking. Everything tasted amazing! As a group of four, we caught over 70 fish—such a thrill! The weather was beautiful, and the fish house was warm and cozy with plenty of hot drinks and water to keep us comfortable throughout the day. This was such a unique and memorable adventure. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic and enjoyable Alaskan experience!

Dog sled tour- highlight of our trip

Had an amazing time on the dog sledding tour. It was the highlight of our trip to Fairbanks for both the teenagers and adults in our party. Deke and Luther were our guides and were so generous in sharing about their lives as mushers as well as allowing us to experience their amazing dogs. We did a one hour tour, but wish we had done the two hour. Will definitely return if we are back in Fairbanks.

Unique and professional experience!

Such a fun and unique experience! We are a family of five so we had 3 different dog mushers. All were very good and take such great care of their dogs. We got to go out at the same time and even kinda had a race which was fun! Rod's Guide Service is very professional and organized. Good communication and clear instructions/directions. I would definitely recommend this tour.

Besides fishing in the cabin we were given the opportunity to fish outside and many took the opportunity. Noah helped us bait the lines and unhook the fish, if you wanted assistance. We had reindeer hotdogs, which were excellent. A bit later Noah had cooked our fish and we enjoyed tasting salmon or trout. This is a must do - for all ages!

My 80-year old mom, sister and I had the time of our lives ice fishing with our guide, Trevor! Trevor is biologist who has lived in Alaska for many years. He was very kind, happy, and patient with us as first-timers. Trevor taught us so much about environmental stewardship from a hunter/fisherman standpoint. He shared many personal stories about his adventures living in Alaska which I enjoyed every bit as much as the fishing and drinking hot cocoa in his cozy hut!

fun, but I learned so much! SUPER.

Total total experience was wonderful. The HUTS were well located convenient to bathrooms very comfortable and just pure fun. Our day was warm enough that we went outside and Trevor auger holes for us to fish outside, but I surely enjoyed being able to really look at the fish well inside and I caught four fish two went back. Trevor was amazing, knowledgeable cautious with our health and safety. Great cook, but taught us so much about living in Alaska and caring for nature. It was I think the best experience of my trip thank you thank you well done, Trevor.

Jimmy's dog were the best

This was my first experience on a dog sled. It was simply amazing. The day was beautiful, the dogs were so cute, and most importantly, Jimmy was soooo nice. I won't be able to thank him enough for giving us this amazing and unique experience in Alaska. Jimmy took a bunch of pictures for us and with us, and explain everything we wanted to know about the dogs. Thank you for letting us try to drive the sled 😁

What a great experience! I learned so much.

We had such an amazing experience with Trevor. He is so knowledgeable about "All things Alaska" pertaining to wildlife and conservation. If you want a luxury ice fishing experience, this is IT. Heated cabin. Hot beverages. A freshly cooked fish dinner! All gear and bait included! I will be back with friends.

Lots of fun with a dog sled team

We had a great time on the dog sled. Jimmy was our guide and he did a great job. He told us about his dogs, the history of dog sleds and made the trip a great learning experience. Great job by Jimmy’s Dogs at Rod’s Alaskan Guide Service.

An amazing trip

Pretty and joyous

Our family of 5 adults were guided by 3 husky teams and their musher's and every one of us had a blast. We are dog lovers and we had such a laugh watching the dogs, all so joyful and friendly. Our sledding excursion was very scenic, through the trees on frozen rivers that feed Chena Lake. The guides were engaging, full of stories we all shared with ourselves afterwards. It was our biggest daytime highlight of our visit to Fairbanks.

Amazing Dog Sledding Experience!

Our dog sledding adventure with Luther as our guide was absolutely incredible! He was so nice, super friendly, and made sure we had a great time. He even took pictures for us with the dogs, which we really appreciated. The dogs themselves were the sweetest, they are so well-trained, affectionate, and full of energy. It was an unforgettable experience, definitely one of the best things we did in Alaska. If you’re visiting, this is something you have to try. Highly recommend!

Went snow machining with Victoria as a guide and had a blast. Highly recommend,. It was late in the season so they had a maximum for an hour of time but would have loved to do two. The machines were brand new with even heated handlebars and helmet visors. Easier to drive than I was figuring.

Dog Sledding - Alaska trip MUST

Luther was our musher. I enjoyed the experience of dog sledding so much that I wanted to go again as soon as it was over. This was definitely one of the highlights of my trip to Alaska.
