We did an independent trip on the Earnslaw, it was not part of a tour. We arrived at the dock and saw big queues, but once the boat got underway and people started moving about the boat didn’t seem so busy. Its a great boat which gives you a beautiful window into a bygone era of boat building quality, with beautiful wood and brass fittings. We loved the fact that the inside of the boat is hollow so you can see down into the engine room at marvel at the incredible workings of the steam engine. From above you can even watch the man shovelling coal into the furnace. We never got off at Mt Walter station (though it looked a spectacular experience, but we didnt have the time or money) . The return journey had less people,. I would highly recommentvthis trip.

Great tour guide/driver, Dan McKnight (cool name), was very passionate in explaining about the history of NZ and specifically Milford Sound area. One of the most beautiful places in the world, not just Milford Sound but the scenic drive. Totally worth it.

The tour was good. The other participants weren’t very quiet or respectful towards the tour guide which made the tour a bit difficult.

This was crazy awesome! Do the 7:30am one guys. You see the moon set as the sun rises. It is the most surreal experience. So beautiful. The moment I enjoyed the most is when the engines are turned off. What a great touch to truly make all of us appreciate the nature.

Amazing! Buffet was great with so many variety to choose from. The cruise is so nice, seeing Lake Wakitipu was one of the highlights of our trip. Good value for money We save the best for last🙂
