Walking tour
Pablo was an amazing, passionate guide. The tour was eye-opening, taught us so much about Escobar and so much more than that.

A must do
We had a fantastic time with Germán. The tour is packed with information, stories and opportunities to engage with the local history and current reality. We'd already done a bike tour around the city so weren't sure if this was going to be too similar but I'm so glad we did it. Highly recommend this and many of the other Real City tours while in Medellin. They make sure the groups are not too big so you get a really interactive personal experience (not loads of time spent herding).

Better than North OR South Carolina
Carolina led a fascinating tour. She obviously has studied and learned from her years of guiding tours. She had a right balance of making sure we could and did ask questions, that our questions were answered, and she did not shy away from any subject. A real professional.

The Only Escobar Tour You Should Take
Every tourist should take the Ethical Escobar Tour. It is extremely respectful to the victims and intentionally removes him from the center of the narrative. Pablo, the guide, is exceptional — knowledgeable, engaging, and committed to telling the true story. I 100% recommend this tour. If you are in Medellín, this is an absolute must-do.

Don't miss this tour!!
The tour is absolutely worth it. A lot of facts of Medellin city's past are shared but also a broaden picture of narcos story and current situation in Colombia and worldwide. Pablo (the guide) explained everything very objectively with a pint of personal experiences and opinions which creates nice debate and make oneself reflect on our beliefs/thoughts. Historical and economical facts were supported by pictograms and games which made it very easy to follow and very entertaining!

I loved the tour! Hernán was an excellent guide, he could really capture an audience when he was telling the history of Medellin. We were happy to have him as our guide! Recommending this tour to anyone that’s visiting Medellin.

Utterly Fantastic!
So, I had not planned to do any tour related to the drug trade for fear of glorifying it, or some individuals specifically. When I was booking the City Centre tour, I saw this tour, "More than Escobar", loved the description, and I signed up. It was, as the title says, utterly fantastic. I loved it. It was an incredibly informative, thoughtful, interesting 3.5 hours (basically, 3 great classes on the nature/science, history, and business of the drug trade a la Colombia), ending with a moving visit to the memorial to the victims of the terror of the 1980s/1990s. The guide was so, so great. No joke, this was one of the best tours I have ever done. I can't recommend it highly enough. Well done, Real City Tours. :)

Julio was an amazing tour guide!
Great and interactive tour that explained us all about cocain production, narcos, politics and history. Highly recommended since its not about Esobar, but about perspective from common people point of view. Very interesting to hear all about it.

Excellent, educational and respectful tour!
We did the tour with Julio and it was very very good! It gives a complete picture of the narco history, the violent past and the transformative present. It was beautiful to listen and to understand the perspective way beyond Escobar and understand the effects it had on the people in Medellin. It also pays respects to the victims and it felt like a very respectful way to learn about the history without glorifying Escobar and similar. Highly highly recommend!

Ich habe mit vier Freunden*innen an der englischsprachigen Free Walking Tour in Medellín teilgenommen und sie war ohne Übertreibung eine der besten Free Walking Touren, die ich je gemacht habe. Unser Guide Pablo war unglaublich freundlich, offen und extrem kompetent. Er konnte komplexe Zusammenhänge sehr verständlich erklären und hat sich jederzeit die Zeit genommen, auf Fragen einzugehen. Die Tour war nicht nur sehr informativ, sondern auch inhaltlich hervorragend aufgebaut. Besonders positiv fand ich, dass Pablo Escobar bewusst nicht ins Zentrum gestellt wurde, sondern die Drogenproblematik Kolumbiens in einen größeren historischen, sozialen und politischen Kontext eingeordnet wurde. Dadurch öffnet die Tour wirklich die Augen und vermittelt ein viel tieferes Verständnis für die Gesamtsituation des Landes und der Stadt Medellín. Man merkt, dass Pablo für das Thema brennt und großen Wert darauf legt, ein realistisches und differenziertes Bild zu vermitteln. Eine Tour, die ich uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen kann – vor allem für alle, die mehr wollen als oberflächliche Fakten und wirklich verstehen möchten, was Medellín geprägt hat und bis heute prägt. Excellent! A MUST DO!!!
Absolutely one of the best tours I’ve ever taken - incredibly educational, told in the most engaging manner. Pablo our tour guide was so generous with his time and answering questions. Above everything, you learn about the real timeline of colombias narco trafficking story and the real victims. Of course Pablo Escobar is talked about, but the idea is to change the narrative and take him out of the epicentre of the stereotype ww know of Colombia and its history. Excellent, thank you! Will recommend to anyone who come to visit Medellin!

Super nice tour with a very engaged guide. You can clearly see that the topic is very important for him. He wants to set the focus away from the classic Pablo Escobar tours and draw a more broad perspective on the war on drugs in Colombia. Especially, other than in our pop-culture media is not Escobar and the Narcos in the focus but the victims. He did four different stops. 1. He explain the history of coca leaves in south america and how cocaine is produced. 2. Showed how Colombia developed to the main cocaine producing country and how its history was affected by the war on drug until today (Stop in a bar where you could order a beer while listening). 3. He called it Narconomics, where he explained the economics behind the drug business. 4. Focus on the different victims of the story. I can really recommened it to everyone who wants to learn more about the topic and not only get the mainstream tour.

The absolute height of our stay in Medellin!
Our tour was over three hours and we went to some of the most remarkable places. There were seven people total on the tour today besides Susan and I and. Toto was magnificent in his presentation, explanation and the cultural part of the experience. We walked as a group into places that Susan and I might not wander into by ourselves. Uber took us straight to the meeting point and picked us up where we ended up seamlessly. You can’t go wrong with this tour.

Amazing Storytelling
