A must do activity when in Hawaii. We had so much fun there. A lot of interesting things for all age groups. Be prepared to walk all day. We went there around 2:30 and the last show ended at 8:45. Highly suggest to take the canoe ride first and walk through each village walking back.

The exhibits were awesome! The luau was over priced and the food was subpar. I would skip that.

The Center is a sophisticated representation of LDS’s missions in the Pacific. It is not necessarily representative of the islanders outside of the church. According to dialog journal, “The various island groups have presented different linguistic and societal challenges to the Church.” Borrowing from the Catholics, who “summarized mission purpose and theory in a five-pronged program. The elements were these: “(1) the widespread preaching of the Gospel by every possible method; (2) the support of the preaching by the distribution of the Bible in the languages of the country; (3) the establishment of a Church, at the earliest possible moment; (4) a profound study of the background and thought of the non-Christian peoples; (5) the training at the earliest possible moment of an indigenous ministry.”” This is the filter the Polynesian cultures that are represented at the Center had to pass. No, the students and employees don’t have to be LDS members but they do have to comply with the code of conduct. The show though feels very Christian-tinted, from the marital rights to most of the outfits… the versions we see are the church approved ones. We also get to have a church approved dry dinner (no alcohol!!), with only the spirit of aloha and sugary sodas to wash it down with. The aftertaste is palpable…

Absolutely unforgettable! The Polynesian Cultural Center is a beautiful, immersive journey through Polynesia — fun, educational, and full of heart. As a vegetarian, I was so impressed by the flavorful and thoughtful food options in the buffet. Every performance and village experience was mind-blowing, and we even picked our next travel destination based on the cultures we explored. A must-do for “culture of the land” enthusiasts
